Good evening from Goose Creek! Does anyone know at what point a sailor will receive his/her orders upon Prototype? My husband’s scheduled graduation is July 20th (I won’t be surprise if that gets delayed), and I was not sure what the time frame was like for receiving PCS orders. My husband has been given many different answers, so I thought I would turn to you all and see if you could help! I am hoping he will receive them at least 30 days in advance so that I can have a little time to prepare for a move- especially if it is cross country!

Hello from the PNW:)

I am sure there are variations, but this is my sailor's experience:  she is scheduled to graduate May 11, and got her orders April 17 which is about 3 weeks before graduation.  Her friend doing prototype in Ballston Spa (same graduation date) got orders almost 2 weeks prior to that...

That is helpful, thank you! Hopefully she is moving to one of the ports on her wish list! Best of luck to her!

Thanks.  Unfortunately, she did not get one of her three choices.  Needs of the Navy, you know.  She is making the best of it, and her ship is one of the newer ones, so that is a positive!

I’m in Charleston now for prototype graduation tomorrow. My son says he has no idea what time they’re graduating or the exact location except it’s at Patriots point. Do you have any information?

Unfortunately I do not know the time. My husband graduates tomorrow as well and he said he thinks it is at 8. I will ask when he gets home from work tonight!

I asked on the Facebook group and they said 10am. I hope you can get confirmation from your son!

My husband said they have to be at the Yorktown at 7:15 so he assumes the ceremony starts at 8. We have not had any official confirmation from the command at this point. Please let me know if you hear otherwise, we plan to be there by 8!

There are two graduations. One boat graduates at 8, one boat graduates at 10!

Here’s what another mom said “if you go with your Sailor, he’ll need to be there earlier (8?) I can’t quite remember what time we got there, but I know we had traffic on 26. They gather in the ship, and family had to wait by the gift shop until about 9.”

I guess I’m not helping much!
