I know ow how you feel  in fact probably every mom in this group has had similar nerves. My baby is my sailor. She's never had lots of girlfriends but now she has so many! You're doing the right thing Supporting her dream. Some times it's harder on us moms! HUGS to you! What will she be doing in the Navy?

HI, my baby girl was my sailor too.  She will call and write to complain and vent but only because she knows you'll listen and have her back.  Mine was a grad-n-go and was over seas for the 1st 5 years, thought I'd die!  But we went to Japan to see her for Christmas the 4th year. We are just as close now as we were, don't worry about that.  I sent lots of cards, e-mails, texts and boxes.  She will grow and mature and Love you more for your support.  We are here for you come and laugh, brag, vent, celebrate, cry..... we will join in.  LOL   Make lots of memories and take pictures I never got to do this, mine decided and left in 2 weeks.  But we made a pack to Pray every day at the same time and to think of each other.  We had code words.....I even watched her favorite TV show (and I hate TV) so I could keep her up on what was happening.

Happy Mother's Day - HUGS

leave nothing unsaid!  She gave me POA before she left. and left her stuffed puppy on my bed, I'm crying just thinking of it and this was 11 years ago!  Gotta go, I'm at work, sitting here crying like a baby and my patients are looking at me with concern. LOL

shes my pride,

Both of these moms gave you some great advice.  I would add to be prepared in case she is called to report early.  These things can and have happened.  I agree with making sweet memories before she ships.  We did a mini family vacation to Niagara Falls and planned a Farewell, High School Graduation, and Birthday party for my girl and her twin sister just before she left!!!  I still look back at those days as being special but also sad for me cause I knew it was the last time we could just get them together with family and friends!!!  Now her sister is serving and my middle son is serving.  Trying to get everyone together for a family reunion is tough but I'm so proud of all my kids and their accomplishments that I have to accept the courses they take!!!!   Remember when she does ship to boot, to be sure to send her lots of encouraging letters, even though you won't hear back from her for a couple weeks!!!!  They live for mail from home!!!  Good luck to your girl and thank her for her service!!!!
