Hello fellow Navy Moms!! My daughter left on June5th.  I have been a wreck since, have this feeling in my chest that just won't go away!!! I know she is doing great things, I never in a million years thought her being gone would affect me like this! Anyone else feel the same?

Hi Anna! - so good to see you, sounds like you had a wonderful vaca with Jenn! You both certainly deserve love and fun and laughter! Good news, it's not going to be 113 today, only 108 (cue eye roll). Must be a cooling trend. lol   My husband is playing golf this afternoon --- golfers, good grief!

spyder and Oleander,

So sorry to hear about your high temps!!!  I wouldn't mind having a pool to go to, it's in the high 90's here as well!!

My vacation to Pensacola is over and I'm back in OK!!  I had so much fun with Jenn and we spent plenty of time at the beaches!!!  Plus we spent a weekend in Jacksonville where the oldest son, DIL, and granddaughter drove down to spend some time together!!!  We had a blast!!! There was so much heat and humidity that I had curly hair the whole time!!! Drove back to P'Cola in the hurricane!!!  THAT was exciting!!!

Brenda,

So happy you got a letter and your box!!  I didn't get a note with my daughter's stuff either but I was hoping for something!!

TxMom,

Glad you got your letter and phone call.  Love hearing their voices!!!  I sent you a welcome message to your profile page!!  Hope you get another letter soon!!!

Hey JayDee, don't melt!!!

Well...........typically air conditioning and a swim spa do the trick, however we woke up this morning to discover our upstairs unit has thrown in the towel! Thankfully a service repair is coming out this afternoon! Otherwise I'd be packing a bag and heading to a hotel!

Spyder, we've traveled to Portland and Seattle quite a bit this year on business. We absolutely LOVE it there. This heat definitely has me dreaming of making a move!

Oleander, definitely beginning to melt, as I'm sure you are:). Thinking of moving to washinton where my daughter is...at least for 6 months:).
Welcome to all the new mom's, this is a great group!
Anna, how are you doing with recovery?
Stay cool and God Bless all!

Wow, and I thought that our highs in the 90's were bad, I can't imagine 113!  How do you stand it?

Comment by Oleander on June 19, 2018 at 12:35pm

Morning all! I've been reading but life has been crazy busy. It's good to see you new moms here, welcome!!!

Brenda, no notes in my kid  in the box either! But like JayDee our girl added fun little pictures and nicknames to the form letter. Just that touch of humor and familiarity made this mama's heart sing (and my eyes teary!).

TxMom, our sailor stayed in Great Lakes for A school too. She's DC, reported to her ship in San Diego almost 3 years ago. She was deployed last July, got home in Feb -- it's been quite a ride!

KSMOM, we were completely new to Navy/military life, I'm sure having your husband retired Navy will help get through some of the rough patches.

Hope everyone is staying cool out there, it's going to be 108 here today, 113 tomorrow! Spyder, are you melting?

My daughter didn't put anything in the box either. I think that she was too tired & frazzled to think.  When we got our form letter, she had written around the margins and drawn some little pictures for us.  Made me smile as I knew that "little girl" was still in there!

Comment by Brenda on June 19, 2018 at 8:01am

JayDee659,

Yes I did receive my box last week, there was nothing, not a note tucked anywhere,  and believe me I looked for something.

Comment by JayDee659 on June 19, 2018 at 7:49am

Brenda, so glad that you got a letter!  Did you get your box also?  I've heard that some kids will leave a vm on their phone for their mom or tuck a note in a pocket or in their shoe.  Mine did not but some do.
