Awe!  My son leaves next Monday, and my daughter leaves Wednesday of the following week.  I know I am going to be a huge emotional wreck!  Hang in there!  Prayers for you and your son!

Thanks so much for your support and prayers. You will probably need them a lot more than me next week since you're losing two in such a short time! It's hard enough sending one off I couldn't imagine sending two. Much love and hugs to you next week.

I was in the Marine Corps, and all I can think is how young and scared I was but I survived 13 weeks of pure hell in Parris Island.  My kids are strong (and young and scared), so I know they've got this!  You son does too!  Looking forward to hearing about your family's journey!  I pray your time passes quickly and your momma heart stays strong!

sherrifm, Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC, as well as the other info I previously left on your My Page.

Hang in there Melissa, I remember all too well when my son left for bootcamp. Your Sea-sters here are awesome with lots of great information. I remember a mom had 9 little Navy flags in a vase, and each week she would remove one and that helped her with the countdown to PIR. I thought it was a great idea. She had a picture of her son next to it, and a blue candle to burn when she was missing him. By the time I found out, I was at the end of my wait, but I loved the idea, give it a try, it just might help. Phoenixmom and AntiM have tons of information. PIR will be here before you know it. Start making the door wreath/banner for your hotel door, if you are going to PIR. Research everything, it will keep your mind busy to help pass the time, that is what I did, and still do. Write lots of letters so that when you get your "Kid in a Box" information, you can mail him lots of letters, put in pictures of the family, even on just plain white paper printed out with your letter on the back of it, saves him space too, they don't have much. Hope this helps, you are just gearing up for the craziest emotional roller coaster of your life, embrace it, only other Navy Moms understand these NM Allergies. Lots of NM hugs.

Thanks! That is a wonderful idea with the flags and now I'm on a mission (something to take my mind off of things). I'm going to find nine little Navy flags.  :)

I feel like all I do is read this site and research Navy stuff, I have learned a tremendous amount of information from all the wonderful Navy Mom's and am so very thankful.

Thanks for the hugs, I need all I can get right now but it seems like every time someone hugs me I burst out crying.

That’s all I’m doing too! I have to though, it’s how I deal

Butterball, that is a great way to count down the Fridays until PIR.
