My daughter is in A school in GL and she was able to have her laptop. We took it with us when we went to her PIR so she could have it with her that weekend. She did wait until Sunday to take it back to her room but no issues so far.
Anti M that is so true my daughter has said a similar thing regarding trust:)
Laptops are fine. Consider getting a security tracker such as lojack for it. Theft is unfortunately a thing in the barracks. You can trust your shipmate with your life, but never your wallet.
I would assume a laptop will be ok?
My sailor attended A School at Great Lakes. He was not allowed anything sitting out. So No T.V.
I'm sorry to hear this. When my Son was close to finishing they moved him from his BEQ and was given an apt. Looking place on base 2 to a room very nice. Sorry to hear of how miserable the place is for your Son.
The rooms do vary depending on what ship it is. My son just graduated A School on Friday, top of his ET class and was "rewarded" with being moved to the worst ship on base, where they also house those on restriction and those who are being separated from the Navy. The building is old, and nasty with black mold. Verifying that each ship has it's own rules. He's counting the days until he can leave for C school and Great Mistakes behind.
Hi ladies when my son attended A School in GL as he phased up he was able to have a tv, x box, but he also had to get permission to have it out. All thru A school he was able to have, but as Allison mentioned its about the rules and what they can or cannot have. My Son loved A school hoping your Son will too. I have a pic of what my Sons room looked like there in GL. Not sure if they all look like that. And also they are able to lock their doors to their room.
Hi Allison, so good to hear from you. Hoping all is well and on point.
They do not. However, I would wait until he can get all the rules of his barracks and everything. Great Lakes is probably one of the strictest A Schools. Anyway, he’ll most likely need a chit to leave anything out in him room, such as a tv. Otherwise, it’ll have to be put away in a tiny closet every time he leaves his room, and those closets don’t hold much after all the uniforms are in it.
