Thanks Anna, I bet your right about the delay due to the holiday. I hadn't thought about that..

Melissa,

Sorry you haven't heard anything yet.  I thought it was about 2 weeks after arriving that the form letters were sent out.  It may take a little longer because of the holiday but you should be getting something very soon!!!!  There should be some newer Moms on here that would have more insight as to how things are done now.  I really hope you hear something early this coming week!!!!

Anyone know how long it takes to receive information about my daughter's graduation? She arrived at bc on Nov. 7th. Haven't received a call or letter. Thanks to anyone who can give me a update.

Welcome Melissa!!  So glad you reached out here!!  These ladies are awesome and so helpful and full of good info!!  Thank you ladies for helping out our newbies.  Melissa, I sent you a personal welcome on your profile page.

JayDee,

What a lovely picture of your girl!!!  Love the dress!!! I hope you are enjoying every moment with your girl this weekend!!

Oleander,

Jealous you got to spend some time in San Diego!!!  I really want to go back for a visit!!!!  Hope your girl is doing well!!!

bbcregular,

WOW!!  Congrats to your daughter!!!!  I know she will treasure that coin!!

My daughter was also surprised with a coin during the last big exercise they had on this last deployment she will have to take.  One of the Battle Command staff was impressed with her work and gave her his coin - - - a one star no less!!!!!

Thanks for all who have asked about my knee.  Recovery is getting better but I still have quite a ways to go.  I'm managing the pain better when they "work on me" and when I have to sit in the machine.  I can bend the knee on my own to about 110 degrees and they can force it comfortably to 115, which is what they require to "pass" me.  I will have to continue more on my own to get it to match the other leg!!!  However, Monday hubby and I are leaving on a much needed break from everything and heading to South Carolina to visit oldest son, daughter in law, and granddaughter!!!  We will be there until Dec 2nd!!!!  I will still do my home PT exercises there so I don't loose any progress made so far!!!

If I'm not back on in the next day or two - I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!!  Hope all of our sailors who are in training, deployed, or otherwise out of touch, have a happy holiday and know the love of all us at home!!!

Welcome Melissa! Not much more to say, JayDee and bccregular are spot on! These women here have been through just about everything so please hang with us, ask questions, vent, share - we're here for you.

JayDee your girl is beautiful! She'll be the belle of the holiday ball : )   Have a wonderful time with her this weekend. Cram in as many mom and daughter hugs as you can!

We just got back from a weekend in San Diego visiting our sailor. We had a wonderful time and even got to see a Saturday matinee of "Wicked". The weather in SD was almost 80! It was a nice cool 56 when we got home to the desert. Still.... it's almost Thanksgiving...I want to wear sweaters lol.

Hope everyone is well. You recovering well Anna?

Prayers to all those affected by the horrific fires in CA.

bbcregular thank you. How exciting for your daughter! I'll bet she's excited about that too!

Thank you Spyder.

My daughter will be home this weekend .I'm super excited about seeing her. Her dad is away with work and will miss her visit by one day. It will be nice to have her to myself for a few days.

Hi Melissa, Welcome to the best group. When you receive your first letter you can follow her PIR group on Facebook. My battery got hot communicating with the other family members the closer they got to battle stations. I still stay in contact with some of the families. Let us know how it goes with your daughter. Do you know what she hopes her job will be? My daughter is CTI.

JayDee, she is beautiful!! Makes me miss my daughter lots.

Daughter was surprised by NSA with a challenge coin. She was called into a meeting by the master chief and was told she would represent her team. She thought why?, I am not the supervisor. Then called to the speakers podium. She was so nervous. Then she was thanked for her due diligence and presented the coin. When she returned to her duty station she was eargerly greeted by team mates. They all knew and wanted to see the coin. She is the only one on the team to have this NSA coin. Enough bragging. I love reading all the comments. Praying you all hear from your girls this week.

I actually got a selfie from my sailor last night.  She was trying on dresses for the ships holiday party.  I'll share one picture with you.  The other dress is so low cut that if she wears it someplace without being escorted by her husband she'll come home with a man stuck in her cleavage!  Other than that it looks fantastic on her.  Whatever else I've done in this life I have raised two beautiful, smart girls.
