Hi everyone, I just joined and am so appreciative of everything on this website.  My daughter leaves for Boot Camp on Tuesday 5 March.  Wondering if any other moms in here are sending off their sailors at the same time.  Would be nice to connect and lean on each other over the next 9 weeks.  Also, for those whose sailors already left, any words of advice for these last few days?

Wow how exciting! Id say for your recruit to eat good, sleep lots and enjoy the leisure. My son said after PIR "its so weird to not do nothing" as he just sat in silence and enjoyed a candy bar. Congrats!

Thanks so much!

Hi Tksunrise welcome to Navy Moms, here are some things to look at before she leaves to get things in order. See Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....) this one would be a good one so she can see what she will need to do to pass her PFA.

@phoenixmom Thank you so much!

No Worries, please come stop by Boot camp Moms and meet all the Great Ladies that are just starting off as you, and some that are attending PIR. You will get so much insight from everyone.

Hello there I'm new here also my boys just arrived to bootcamp last night.

Hi Momof2Sailors, Congrats on your New SR. I have some things you also can look at. This video I'm about to post gives you a Look at when they get on bus all the way to the End which is PIR it will give insight on all that will happen.

All Hands Magazine's mini-documentary series "Making a Sailor": These six videos follow four recruits through Boot Camp in the spring of 2018 who were assigned to DIV 229, an integrated division, which had PIR on 05/25/2018.

Hi Momos2Sailors!  How are you doing?  My daughter arrived last night and I got the 21 second call lol.  I can't imagine having two going through at the same time.

Stay strong my daughter just graduated on 2/8 and the first phone call was rough however now she is in A school and loving it. she said the hardest part was being away from everyone and not being able to talk to anyone. The positive letters help check out the sandbox it is a military communication and letters get to them faster. you can even attach a picture to your letter.

Thanks for the encouragement and info!

Tksunrise, I would suggest Sandboxx for sending letters.  We had issues with son getting mail while in boot camp.  Also, I would suggest getting on Navy Federal Credit Union and opening an account.  My son opened an account before he left, and my name is also on the account as a secondary person.  That way in an emergency I could intervene for his banking issues.  Good Luck to you and your future sailor.  Tamie
