Awww Katski - I don't have any advice but this makes me sad to hear about everything your daughter is going through.  Hopefully they will see how badly she wants to stay in the Navy and they will continue to work with her.  And I hope they do get her hip taken care of sooner rather than later.  Let her know she has lots of Navy moms pulling for.  Hugs to both of you.

not sure I need advice or just to vent... went to visit my girl and she is still in pain from the hip fracture - and no one is doing anything - no phy therapy, no meds just informed looks a little worse - come back in 30 days - and her room is quite a distance and she has to walk so far to everything and been doing watch duty where she stands for at least 10 hrs...so she is concerned about getting discharged - which is not what she wants at all after going thru all that she has..she does back at 05/01...and then again because of scheduling I believe - her relationship with her well fiancé / boyfriend (they had been together for four years, enlisted together - graduated one week apart and are stationed in same city but different bases - only about 4 miles from one another - called it quit..she is lonely, depressed, scared and worried of injury...on top of this another young lady - friend of hers tried to take her life there on base just last Friday - I am beside myself - cant do anything to help, getting no sleep and worried...  can anyone tell me why they would continue to hold her if they are thinking of discharge... what not switch a job? - she is dedicated and wants this more than anything..at a loss

Katski,

Oh my heart is breaking for your girl.  So many things are going on for her.  I hope her and her fiance can work things out. That loneliness and boredom can wear her down but just keep encouraging her.  Years down the road this will seem like just a little bump in the road.  I am keeping her in my prayers for complete healing!!

Well she went back to dr today been on hold the last 30 days, still not healed and on hold another 30 days...the only positive is there currently not a class for her a school to start apparently they are waiting for few more to come in so maybe that's good?.. she is really bummed and no real direction on what to do on light duty and still doing her watches as instructed... but bored out of her mind... all the friends she made are gone, so lonely...and on top of it her schedule and her fiancé schedule completely opposite shifts including their watches and duty ...and too much for them so they have called the engagement off... she apparently gets to choose once she is done with school and he is being told where he has to go... she is to grad before him... she is beside herself.... they have been together since they were 14, enlisted together, went to boot camp and grad a week Apart.... his mother and I have a house rented this weekend and they will be together for the weekend liberty.. we will see how it goes

This was 12 years ago, she went to school in 2 air casts and wheelchair, then on crutches. she did upper body PT but obviously couldn't run, she did do some swimming after she was out of the casts.  They kept her. Praying for your daughter (and you)  HUGS

@ Blondie - how did she handle a school? - my girl ended up with a fracture hip during BC and had only started classes 3 days in and then pulled out to be rechecked in 30 days - which is coming up here at this week - she is nervous that she will get kicked out because she does not feel it has healed enough and she is sad.  her schooling is physical and she has not been allowed to PT either -  - will they keep her? - wondering if they could change her job? -  - if all had went well she would be home right now on leave - as the school is only 30 days apparently.  we are so scared for her - as this is all she wanted, no back up plan either.. - I am concerned if she comes home how she will feel - she pushed so hard to get thru BC with a fracture (not knowing of course) not diag til almost 5 weeks after the fact - any advice is helpful..Im heading that way the first weekend in April - hoping for good news that she can start school

Hi Ladies, it's been awhile....

My daughter had shin splints in BC and ended up with stress fractures in both legs because she would not give up or quit.  She passed and when she got to A School reported to medical and got the Dx.  1st time the Navy sent her home on leave she was in a wheel chair!  but she persevered .  She was sick over seas....BUT through Everything the Navy was there for her.  Even to the point of when she was taking to the closest hospital on an emergency (sepsis) they sent a Military Guard  to her room.  They knew her Fiance was closer and asked our permission to contact his command (also Navy) they released him to travel to her. But her military guard stayed with them until she was stable enuff to be transferred to a Military Hospital.  They communicated daily with her doctors....Believe me when I say they take Really good care of out children.

Heading out to see them and our Precious granddaughter soon.  :)

Hey ... heading to see my girl first weekend in April... she has been down  waiting still to get clear for her hip...says it still hurts and worrying quite a bit... someone mentioned that they will maybe just send home but she does not want that at all...it was caused at basic and she wants to stay... her roommate is okay she says but almost 10 yr age diff, told her she can't turn on fan, kinda rules over her my girl is younger and can't hang with others as she says lots of them go drinking.. she seems sad when we talk..which of course worries me..

Katski,

Can't imagine the pain she was going through on a hip fracture!!  I know she looks upon this as a set back but let her know it really isn't!!!  She just needs to take the time to get this healed up so she doesn't have problems with it 20 years down the road!!!!  She should not have to worry about loosing her job or her spot in school.  As long as this wasn't some pre-existing condition, she won't get sent home.  This was caused by her time in the Navy so they will let her heal and then continue on her career path!!  Tell her to keep her spirits up!!!!

My girl had started class only in for  couple of days and on a 30 day hold as she had been in some pain right before her final pft at basic and pushed thru and passed and was able to graduate 2/8...we had notice a little limp at graduation and figured since her feet were so bad and they thought she pulled a groin muscle..but no one really checked it out til a week ago and she has hip fracture... .. no surgery and to get checked out at the end of this month to see if she can re start classes... not sure since she pushed thru pft and been marching, pt, walking on it for almost 4 1/2 was that only a few weeks to see if healed it gonna clear her...she is really scared and unsure of what will happen..could they reassign her job?   To go thru basic push thru this she does not want sent home... she is getting a little down...and doesn't help not made too many friends as she can't do everything, but yet she has been doing watch duty... just concerned for her, she is bummed
