Thanks Shawnmom. The feelings go hand in hand. Can’t have the pride and joy without the fear. Also part of being a mom.
I’m looking forward to the call, and I like writing to her but I’m really liking Sandboxx too so I can send quick pics and she gets the letters fast. Tracking them is convenient.

Molly's Proud Mom,

I agree 100% with Anna ;and ShawnMom.  Bad things happen Everywhere.  And it is scary giving our kids to the Navy but actually we didn't  our children CHOOSE to join.  And we support them 150% maybe 200% because that is what Mom's do!  Try looking at the Good, they grow into Mature, Responsible Adults and they travel all over the World.  They have a Fantastic support system and so do we, here at NavyforMoms. Anytime you have fears or questions, Joys or news come here to Share.  We LOVE to share the highs and the lows, there's a lot of experience here too.  I cried for years in Church and the Shower mostly because we were separated and no one understood. But we here do UNDERSTAND.

HUGS my friend, hang in there.  there's gonna be ALOT of Ups and Downs.  But our Young Ladies are Strong and Prepared.

Molly's Proud Mom,

I couldn't possibly add anything else to the wonderful words that were already shared to you on here.  We have some of the best Navy Moms on this website right here on this little group!!!  Yes, there are scary things that happen in our world but the thing is, you can come here and share your worries and find support from others.  I've had plenty of those "moments" from my three kiddos who decided to serve - two of them are still active.  But we can't give in to the what ifs!!  It's hard when you are new to this roller coaster ride!!!  I won't say it exactly gets easier, but you do learn coping skills!!! And I think just knowing we are not alone is a big help!!! Welcome to the group and I look forward to learning about you and your sailor.  No one on this group needs to ever feel like they can't talk about their concerns, worries, or all the good things that are going on!!  We are here for you!!

Thanks both of you! I think I needed to work through that a little bit. I am just feeling like I'm doing ok and a little less weepy, then BAM!! :)

Molly is going to A School after PIR (we hope and pray!!) and wants to be a medic. She said she was tired of college turning into parties and drinking and that she knew she was on this earth to do something more worthwhile. I hope she's remembering that as she's up early in the snow. Ha.
Thanks for the welcome!

Molly's Proud Mom, you can't let worry grip you. You know your daughter and her strengths. It may be that its good to know it can happen (and not just in the Navy) so you can be ready to support her if it should happen to someone she knows.  That being said  my daughter has been in for 4 years now in a high risk rate and no issues whatsoever.

Tell us something good! What's your daughter doing after boot camp?

This is a wonderful group of ladies  they really supported me while my daughter was in boot camp!

Welcome Molly's Proud Mom!  Please don't let the conversation scare you - these things do happen (unfortunately) and it is something to be aware of but don't let it consume you.  The Navy does a lot of suicide prevention (along with sexual assault prevention) so your daughter will be made aware of this.  My oldest was in the Navy (and yes there were suicides while he was in) and my youngest was in college - unfortunately there were (are) suicides in college too.  It does happen in every walk of life.  The key is to be aware and watch out for each other. (And please know I am not trying to trivialize it in any way.) Stay positive - we are here for you!

Hi all, My daughter Molly is in DIV 219, PIR 6.7.19

I'm a little leery about joining this group because I'm so new at this and the first thing I saw was someone trying to commit suicide?????? I'm not sure I'll be able to last if I start wandering down that thought path. In any case, hello and thank you for any advice/support.

VaKela I hope you get to see your daughter!  I would have giving anything for just a glimpse of my daughter while she was in boot camp.

Anna thank you so much!! I haven’t been very active in here but I will definitely check out this page more - appreciate the welcome so much!!

Yes my daughter Taylor is at boot camp now, DIV 926, Flags. She’s left rifle in the color guard and I’m chomping at the bit to catch a glimpse of her at PIR this Friday! 16 more days!!

Katski

I am praying for you and your precious daughter. My heart breaks reading of the struggles your sailor is enduring. Be strong for her and cry and vent with us. Love and hugs.
