I just got back on Saturday night (ie Sunday morning) - can't get pictures on my page because I am still trying to catch up on all that went on here while I was gone!!! Computer at the hotel was STUPID!!! kept kicking me off!!!
Going to go show pictures now!!!

Had a great time - hotel right on the beach - got up and watched the sun rise one morning - it was awesome!!! Derek got to stay with me alot.
He was real quiet and did not want to do much.

Don't know yet what his next station will be - for my sake - I hope somewhere in the states - for his sake - he wants to go overseas!!
these kids!!! Don't they know we want them close to home...well kinda of close!!! lol

I thought you were heading out this Wednesday, how was his graduation? A tad different than Great Lakes?!! I went to a few of my husbands' graduations and not quite the same as the big PIR but I know you enjoyed being there and spending some time with him.
Yea - real different from Great Lakes - but nice anyway. We had juice and cookies afterward!! I was the ONLY mom there!! There was also an uncle and a grandmother. That was all for eleven sailors.
Derek did not want to do anything Navy related while off base. That cut out a lot of sight seeing in Norfold and Virginia Beach.
He does not seem the same kid. He is so quiet and withdrawn now. I thought I could get him to talk when it was just me and him, but nope!!
lol. I know.
He just finished a really intense school, he's okay and probably just appreciated have you there and some downtime.
Thanks - I REALLY needed to hear that!! I get soooo worried and depressed about him. I hope he is happy with his decision to join the Navy. I really don't want him to spend the next five years cleaning heads and mopping floors.
He wanted to be a SEAL - but decided that he did not want to do Navy for 20 years. He still wants to have the exciting training that the SEAL guys get to have, though.
Oh Brenda I thought you went last week ( told you Mary na na na )
I think that they are calmer because all the training they do, they want them to be calm, cool and collected.
I noticed my son at PIR was not the same animated way he used to be. And at first it bothered me a little then I realized that he was not sad ......just not loud.
I am postive he is not going to be cleaning heads, mopping floors for the navy.......... they do not send you to A school for that !
And he graduated A school :) So no latrene duty for him :)
he will have his own exciting time........ just different then the SEALS do it.
Most likely he was just overwhelmed with all that he has just been threw the last months and months. :)
Glad to have you back, you were missed :)
Thanks - he did say that the training and classes were pretty hard. I know that he had to do some classes on the computer. Derek is pretty smart. After his ASFAB, they tried to get him to go to Nuke, but at that time he wanted to be a SEAL.
He is now a MA - they are also the ones who stand at the gates and check ID's. I think Derek would crawl in a hole and die if he had to do that all day. He joined the Navy for excitement! I hope for his sake he finds it. For my sake, I want him home checking ID's.
He is an MAA ?
I understand that an MAA and a MA is the same thing - I guess I am not sure the difference.
He is a Master at Arms - he has a badge that looks like a police badge.
Did you know there is an MAA moms group here ?
Also I have a link to what the rate MAA does...well it is a link to what all the enlisted rates do. Like they say knowledge is power :)
