I received another letter today. This was the one that made me cry. He thanked me for raising him so well and how much he appreciated me. He's looking forward to graduation and seeing all of us. He looks at his white sailor hat and "can't wait to walk out as a sailor but more importantly a man" Reservations have been made!!!!!! That was a tasks, but finally found a good deal. I hope the bowl haircut they all got looks well on them.

Got my call yesterday morning and it was wonderful to hear my son's voice. Poor guy, I got so overwhelmed at first I started crying. We got to talk about 35-40 minutes. He said they were pulling together more as a group and he sounded good. He's counting down to the graduation and for his brother and me to be there to see him, told him we were counting down too. Had to smile, he wants me to bring home made blackberry muffins for him and check out some good places to eat that we can take him too while we're there. It's good to see that some others received phone calls too. Hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July.

CurtsMom,
I'm so sorry you missed your call. My husband and I were so lucky to be home. We kept our cell phones with us always, but we live in rural Tennessee. There are many low areas where cell phones don't pick up. We were so afraid that we would not get our call. But we know that we can't just sit around waiting for 8 weeks. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday. Yes, he was born on July 4. Anyway, we are hoping that we get a call, but know that it is very unlikely.

Our daughter called last week. She was allowed to talk for about 15 min. That was all the time their division had. We have received only 1 letter so far. There is no BF, and she is not sending letters to other family members, so I feel this is the only letter sent so far. I have read about all of the divisions that have had problems with some of the recruits and how this has effected the division as a whole. I certainly hope everything in her division is going ok. After tomorrow, we all have less than 3 more Sundays.

Got two letters today... One of them he wrote on the day our division called on Tuesday. They were supposed to have gotten an hour, but only got about 5 minutes because people wouldn't listen and follow instructions. He wrote that they wouldn't get another call. Hopefully that's not true. I could really use the sound of his voice. He said he has to go back to the dentist because they left a piece of his tooth in there and it's still hurting him. He seemed pretty down in the latest letter. I'm hoping that by this time, things are looking up for him and the rest of the division.

I just received a call from my son! It was sooooo great to hear his voice!!! He said the division has been doing much better as a team these past few days. That sure was good to hear! Next week, they'll start 'live fire' (hope I have that right) starting out with electronic guns that 'kick back' when fired like a real pistol. The following week after that they will learn fire fighting.
I loved hearing how upbeat he was on the phone. He said the time is starting to pass much faster now.
I hope all of you hear from your loved ones today too!

Got our halfway CALL today!!!!!! It was so good to hear his voice. He said that things are going better- that they are starting to come together as a group. So all of you Moms and GFs stay by your phone.... :)

I have not gotten a call - ever - but I do get 2 or 3 letters a week. Have to say the tone of the letters are sssoooo much better now compared to the letters a few weeks ago! She says things are starting to roll along now. :) Less than 4 weeks!

Heard from my son today (well his GF did) He has an ear infection and is on light duty right now. Thank goodness he passed his swim test. I just worry they will make him stay longer. he said they gave him antibiotics and he get put to the front of the line to eat 1st. That is all I know from what his girlfriend told us. Oh yeah he asked her to marry him in his last letter not the one she just got. So after A school there might be a wedding. She is going into the Navy also, she is trying to go in August instead of Nov.

Gail, My hubby is in the same div. as your son... He wrote me pretty much the same thing that your son wrote you! I TOO am taking my cell EVERYWHERE and i sleep with it on loud and next to my pillow just in case for some odd-ball reason my hubby calls me during the night.... you never know when it'll happen. i'm not taking any chances with missing his call! ;)

I look forward to meeting all of you at the meet and greet or at the graduation! Take care and good night! :) ♥

I received a letter from my son yesterday too - still waiting for the phone call though. He sounded good, but is tired of the ones not taking things seriously. He mentioned he'd passed the test they took, but several did not. Teamwork is a must, and my hope was they'd all know that by now. He mentioned they are beginning to go over what they'll be doing on graduation day. That's exciting to hear! I know we're all looking forward to that day! Hopefully, we will all get phone calls in the next day or so! I find myself taking my cell phone EVERYWHERE with me. I'm scared to death I'm going to miss his call!
