I'm withall of you as well. My son left this morning. Took him to the airport and stayed with him for a little bit. I was teasing him while he was here because in Phoenix it was COLD! We even had snow flurries. I told him he brought the cold to Arizona!  His plane had an hour delay but he made it back to base just fine.  I sure do miss him so very much! I'm happy for the time we had together. It was a great 2 weeks!

Dillons Mom, hi, my son just landed in GL too. He is waiting to pick up his luggage. I was so very sad too. Hopefully in time saying good bye will get easier. I think it will.

Hello everyone! We have just returned from the airport. My son flew on Frontier Airlines. Frontier Airlines were very accommodating and issued us gate passes.

Thanks to all! I told my husband " I'm asking my moms, they'll know" and sure enough you do! I will leave my purse in the car and just carry in several tissues! I really want to see him off- and though there will be some time to kill I might not stay till the very last minute. But maybe if we get to the check in early they will honor this moms desire to go to the gate!

Call the airport and see what they say.  I know they usually decide on a case by case...  Once they are over 18 they don't usually allow it, but they might make exceptions because of the military.  When I did it for my son when he was younger, I had to go to the desk and get a pass.  I needed a license and couldn't bring ANYTHING over security checkpoint.

Good luck ladies.  My son is going home today too.  I am just dropping him off though.  He and I have been doing this for years.  I am better off crying alone, plus when you drop them there isn't a lot of time to say goodbye.  Best for my emotional stability.  LOL

Today is a sad day for a lot of us mothers.  Sorry to see my son go!

Answer to the question about seeing your sailor off at their gate -  Any airport will let you go to the gate with your sailor.  You just have to ask for a pass when you are at the check in counter for your sailors airline.
