My son finishes in March also.  He never talks much about studying though.  I know he passed the first 2 tests he took, after that...not sure what's up?  He went out last weekend....Liberty and stayed over night at a hotel with a buddy.  It was a water park hotel.  He had a great time, but it was expensive.  Once again...wish the kid would save some money!!!!  LOL  Boys will be boys.

Aliott,

My sailor son is doing great and very happy. He will be graduating from (A)school the end of March and he can't wait. My son has been very busy too. He has had lots and lots of tests to study for. I have been trying not to bother him too much. When I talk to him via Skype, always has a big test to study for. He has been studying really hard and getting good grades on his tests. I think he needs to go out more and not over study.

Delia, I wouldn't worry too much. They keep the new sailors very very busy with extra duty and Mustering several times a day. If your son is working towards getting his Phase 2 Liberty than this could be why you are not hearing from him. Sailors want to reach phase 2 because they don't have to Muster as often and they have more freedom.

Great Lakes keeps track of new sailors whereabouts at all times. Try not to worry.

Hey Sandy, the boy (man) is good.  He is a few weeks into A school, so he has been pretty busy.  How is your son doing?

Delia...

I can't speak for everyone else, but I know my son has done that a time or two since July 2010.  I wouldn't be overly concerned YET.  I usually leave a message for my son that if he doesn't call me I am going to send the sniffing dogs into his barracks.  Usually then I get a call within a few hours.  Keep us posted.

Ok if anyway can help with this, my son has been at A school in Great Lakes since his PIR in december. We have spoken several times a week since he was home for Christmas as he has his cell and laptop. Now it has been a week since any contact from him. He hasn't called or been in contact with anyone via facebook or otherwise. Needless to say I Am getting extremely concerned. Is it normal to just have communication drop? Is there any contact info where I can call to find out his status? I am just confused as to why he has seemed to disappear? We have tried his cell and it rings several times before going to vm, (which leaves me to think his phone is getting charged) we have left messages with no response. And he is not one to never return a message. I am getting really concerned. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
