You are right, that's why they're call social networking...  They are public.  discussions COULD be accessed.

Email and private discussions are not public forums, therefore okay.  They are read only by the recipient(s).

Did you see the SHELLBACK initiation pictures that Justine Mayer posted?  Lots.  Maybe you'll recognize your son.  I still didn't see any of Abigail.  She said she wore a shirt that said Miss Greenie Weenie WOG. And she says she is that no more!!

XOXO

He does not tell me much. Last email was about taxes.  His dad has a W2 from work  Kurtis did last summer. His dad is waiting on Kurtis to tell him to send it to him, or Kurtis send his Dad Navy W2, so Dad can do his taxes. Dad can be a real jerk...He plays head games wanting son to take responsibility on decisions.  grrr  Dad should just send Kurtis the friggen W2....does this make sense? he he he

Kurtis is thankful to be able to help in the disaster..He carrys  heavy grief, because  his Mom committed suicide..and he has guilt that he might have done more to help her.  So he says his prayers have been answered, to be there to help Japan.  He is such a good kid..love him lots.  thanks for asking...

I got email from Kurtis last night...I emailed him this morning and told him to look Brandon up and tell him , you need to hear from him...They are really busy...Kurtis told  me  it was cold where they are..having 15 gallons of cold high pressure water hit you for 6 minutes was not good.  I freaked...He answered back....Ha ha ha

guess a gauge of some sort broke and he got drenched...Nothing to do with radiation...  WHEW...just doiing his job in the "hole" of the ship.

Brenda,  (my name is Lorna Ross, Las Vegas, NV)

Shellback Initiation...Crossing the Equator

Once a sailor crosses the equator, they are initiated to be a Shellback, no longer a pollywog!  They are issued an official 'Shellback' card.  They must keep this card, because if they lose it they will have to go through the ordeal again. There are no exceptions to this rule.  Long standing tradition!  Many past Shellback initiation - crossing the line - crossing the equator - pictures/videos available online.

The Germantown was in a different region and out of direction of the tsunami.  Their immediate plans are to continue as scheduled until (and if) orders for the ship changes to render aid.  Haven't heard from Abigail since Thailand.

Hi again. I am really missing my daughter! I hope everyone gets to checkout the Ombudsmans newly posted photo album. The Shellback initiation. It showed me that our sailors do get to enjoy some fun and games. I didn't expect this posting, so I really enjoyed seeing the pictures.

Carol - I think you may recognize a couple, for sure.

Cheers!
