Day 51 - Battlestations begins/Day 52 BS21 done - I have a Sailor!

Yes, today is day 51 since my son left for BC at GL.  It has absolutely been the longest 51 days of my life!  He is my firstborn & I find myself wondering where did the time go & when did this kid grow up?  Tonight, about 15 minutes from now he goes into BS21....I really just wish I could have been there to give him a big hug & wish him well.  I was fortunate enough to receive an extra phone call this past Sunday for 5 minutes & wish him well.  I have written him nearly everyday since he left & over the past week have told him how extremely proud we are of him & we know he will do well tonight!  I have no idea if I will sleep tonight & hopefully will be able to keep myself busy enough until tomorrow afternoon to receive that call.....yes, that one - the one that says I am a Sailor!  Son we love you more that you will ever be able to imagine!  My kid...somewhere along the line, yes he has become a man!

My daughter will also be doing Battlestations. What division is your son in? I have talked to my daughter twice since she has been gone. She is very homesick!!  It's also been the longest 51 days in my life. I have a son that will be goin in August. I am very proud of all the young men and women!!

And the "I'm a Sailor" call will be any time now.....how proud he will be of himself and the rest of us for him.  Graduation will be amazing.  All the best to your new sailor.

Yep - got my call, so it's Day 52 - great to finally have a normal conversation, even though I was very excited.  Sat at work all day & pretty much just watched my phone...LOL. He said BS21 was fun, kinda like a game in some parts. He didn't feel like he's been there that long & I told him it's been like forever to me! He was eating 2 snicker bars & chasing them with a cold Dr. Pepper!  He did say he got emotional during the capping after BS21 & it was a great feeling & a sense of accomplishment.  I feel so lucky for him to have gone through BS21 so early in the week, now I can breathe a little easier. He was also really tired & sure he'll definately sleep well tonight, even though they have to be up like at 6 tomorrow for Captains Cup....good luck son & see ya soon!!!

Reading this blog just made me cry...lol.... My son is on day 25 and i just missed his call this morning... Ive been sick so slept in and missed the call...could kick myself..he is my first born and i too have wondered where the time has gone! Im so proud of him tho! I cant wait to take that trip next month to see him graduate! And then he will be off to his next stop of training.. Its hard letting them grow up and go but so worth it when you can hear the pride they have in their voices when they phone home!
