Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hola queridos familiares de los futuros graduados.

Quiero compartir mi experiencia en la graduacion del pasado 5 de abril 2013 en la Base de Great Lakes.

Mi hijo se graduó y fue una experiencia inolvidable...Super linda, emocionante,,, Que rico volver a abrazar a esos pedacitos de nuestras vidas... Les cuento dos cosas importantes, si van en carro rentado DEBEN LLEVAR EL PASS, ese pass lo encuentras en la carta que tu hijo te mandó, ahi debe aparecer un password... Igual te dejan entrar a la ceremonia despues de que inspeccionen el auto, pero no para ir a la base.. (por favor seguir los pases en esa carta para conseguir el VEHICLE GATE PASS)

El clima estuvo bien frio, por lo menos para nosotros fue pesado, pues somos de Miami-Florida, pero se soporta.... como vestirte para la ceremonia no tiene importancia, eso depende de ti, pero va gente en Jeans, con zapatillas tenis, con zapatos altos, en zandalias, con gorros..tu decides lo que te guste... Puedes llevar tu camara, filmadora. 

La puerta la abren a las 6:30 de la mañana, esta muy organizado, ahi te indican a donde debes seguir, cuando entres a la "pista", busca la DIVISION a la que tu hijo/a pertenece y alli mismo se sientan..no hay confusion, pero si te aconsejo llegar temprano para que puedas ver mejor, aunque un poco dificil reconocer a los chicos por todos lucen iguales...

Despues de la ceremonia, entonces ahi pueden compartir con familiares por un ratito pues deben volver a su base porque ya los envian a otro edificio, hay tiempo para ir a visitar el almancen donde comprar sus cosas,  pero alrededor de las 2 pm los volvemos a ver en el VISITOR CENTER que queda cerca y puedes estar con ellos el resto del dia. Ya ellos informan del horario.  Mi hijo se queda en la base de Great Lakes por unos dias mas, pero creo que los que van para otros estados se van al dia siguiente.  De eso no estoy segura..

Yo recomiendo rentar un auto, no es tan costoso,  Nosotros nos alojamos  en el Quality Inn en Waukegan, muy bueno el servicio, tarifas especiales y solo a 10 minutos de la base.... El desayuno muy delicioso.  Cerca hay un Mall muy bonito donde se puede llevar a los chicos, tienen un cinema, varios almacenes, restaurantes.., etc.... Pero creo que el carro es necesario.
