For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Just a suggestion, if your SR tells you that can you please post who the SR is as it causes major alarm for families that didn't recieve a call. Thank you!! Only 3 more Fridays!!!

My son did say that he was selected to be a 'stick' if div 338 earns 4 flags. Right now they have 2 so let's hope we get 2 more.

Anyone from Albany, NY? My son's close friend is and he said his mom is part of our mom group here.

He just tired of all the yelling and SR's not being quiet ! Mind you, my son is very shy and very quiet! Very quiet. His teachers in HIgh School wee like, we don't even know he is in class !!!!!

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on August 9, 2013 at 9:05pm: There are several different ratings within the Nuclear Field...some do not require a Security Clearance check.

ALL enlistees go through a background check during the enlistment process.

Those with a rating that requires a Security Clearance will have an SSBI - Single Scope Background Check done. This is performed by investigators who work for either the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) or the Defense Security Service (DSS), and the actual investigators are usually contractors, not actual government employees.

There are only three levels of security clearances--Confidential, Secret, and Top Secret. In addition, some of those at the Top Secret level may also need "SCI Access" or SAP approval as they have access to classified information that is so sensitive that even the extra protection measures applied to Top Secret information are not sufficient. This information is known as "Sensitive Compartmented Information" (SCI) or Special Access Programs (SAP)".

You'd be surprised at WHO needs a Security Clearance. F'rinstance, everyone would thing a SEAL candidate would need Top Secret but it is only at the Secret level. That's because of the definition of their rating and what they do within it.
