OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I just watched the video "For Navy Families:  The Blue Candle Project".  It was an emotional video.  I couldn't help but cry.  It was very touching.

JoeMamamfromQTown>  I believe that Sarge would be a great one for you to contact about activities in the area that would include your SR's grandparents.  He has been in that area for over 30 yrs.  Please feel free to email him at the following email address.....he is very helpful:

johnspadaro@att.net

Should the grandparents need wheelchairs on RTC, there will be sailors posted around with wheelchairs who will gladly wheel them into/out of PIR Hall.

Need help please, My SR's grandparents are joining my husband and I for the PIR, they are in their mid 80's and while they are active and get around well, a lot of walking is not something they can handle. My SR will have liberty over the weekend as his "A" school is at GL. I need to line up activies every one will enjoy for the weekend. I have search the net in hopes of finding things of interest to do. Looking for ideas. Thanks.

Here's a really nice steak restaurant in Lake Forest, not far from RTC.  They do comp the Sailor's entree as long they are in uniform with their graduation pins.  (Don't think SRs are allowed off base without those pins anyway...)

Lala,

I thought you were going to say those feather pillows were so dreamy!!   Did they cause allergies or were you smothered??  lol!!

Well, glad you will have a soothing beach trip coming up and no extra hotel charges!

May God comfort your hubby and his family during this time of loss~~
