Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Booking Early for PIR ?
My son is scheduled to leave for basic training in Gurnee, IL on September 29th. I have been advised that his graduation date will be 9 Fridays after his departure date...so if I count Sept. 30th his PIR date would be the day after Thanksgiving. Do they even have graduations that day or would it be held the next week on Dec. 2nd? I want to book the Navy Lodge and I have heard they book up quickly so am trying to be proactive... but since his graduation date falls on a holiday weekend I wasn't sure if that affected anything?

Yes, it is most likely that your future Sailor will be in the Thanksgiving TG and that his PIR will be on Wednesday, 11/23/2016. It is possible that he could have 10 Fridays instead since he is arriving at the end of the week, but that happens more for those arriving in November and December due to the holidays and the large number of recruits shipping then or for those shipping at the end of the week in the summer due to the large number of recruits shipping than for those arriving in September. You can book the Navy Lodge for Thanksgiving weekend and then change it to the following weekend if you discover that he has PIR the following week once you receive The Form Letter.
Plan to arrive on Tuesday and to leave late on Friday or on Saturday if he will be flying out to "A" School or training or plan to arrive on Tuesday and to leave late Sunday or on Monday if he is staying in Great Lakes for "A" School or training. BTW, the Navy's only boot camp is located in Great Lakes, IL, not Gurnee, IL.
