For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Tx Mom - woohoo - that's awesome news! Doing the happy dance for you :) Enjoy your visit!

Michelle - Just continue to encourage your son. Proto gets crazy in that they are doing all the shift work and when they are off they often just want to get caught up on their sleep. Be a good listener & sounding board! Proto definitely helps prepare them for the crazy schedules they'll keep in the fleet.

He'll be taking vacation at the end of the year so either 1) I'm going to him or 2) I'm flying him home. I'm so happy!!! It's hard being a Navy mom but it sure makes you appreciate them more! I just wanted to share.

My son is in Charleston waiting for Prototype after graduating from Power School way back in June. He doesn't seem to have any specifics as to when they will start. He is an ET. Anyone in the same situation out there? And any advice or info on how to provide support during Prototype and what to expect?

Welcome Mary! I'm pretty sure we have some mom's on here who have sailors on the Vinson - hopefully they'll chime in. Is this your son's first underway? (Remember not to say anything about dates of ship movement!)

We are getting some much needed rain today here in SoCal. I don't think our area was quite expecting as much as we got but sure not going to complain!

My daughter is just starting prototype on Monday so I've not head any underway experience. One of my friends says that their sailor is sometimes able to get texts when they're just off shore.

How are you feeling about the underway? Is this his first?

No sight-seeing in CO. We are packing 6 of us into my brother's Expedition. (We are a family of 9 siblings.) That should be enough adventure for anybody. The elderly aunt is traveling with other elders so it's just 2 brothers and 4 sisters on the drive. Another brother will meet us there, coming up from NM. I love spending time with my family so while it's a funeral, it will be nice to see everyone too. Prayers for safe travels and good weather, please!
