Hi All, I'm back from CO and the funeral was beautiful. She was a nun so it was joyful and warm. I'm glad I made it. COTwin, I would not have had time to visit anyway as it turns out. What a beautiful photo. CO is truly beautiful.

TXMom, so glad you heard from your sailor and will see him soon!! The spotty communication is a big part of the challenge of navy life.

PattiP, I hope your sailor has good luck finding a car. The logistics of cars, apartments, bills, and all the rest while at sea boggles my mind. My son has a wife; the singles have a way harder life to manage. Poor guy. But somehow these things always work themselves out

Lastly, welcome Mary m&m! I saw you on the Vinson page. They aren't as active as here but they are great when the ship is deployed. Also, be prepared for the nukes not to be liked very much on the ship. Just a fact, I'm afraid. The captain they had when my son had his first deployment was awesome. He sent frequent communication and appreciated his nukes. This new guy, not so much. But I'll leave it at that. But I"m here for you, Sea Sister!

Here is a Colorado pic for you all. This is the town where I moved from to this half of the state. Over here I am about 40 min from the gate to Rocky Mountain National Park.

sorry I missed you NancyJo. I am quite a ways north west of CO Springs. I have been wanting to head there on a long weekend to check it out.

Sorry for your loss of your aunt.

TX Mom: So happy for you! YAY.

Michelle 0206: My son graduated as an ET in June from Power School, just classed up for Prototype this week. I am in the same boat as you, not knowing what to expect. Thank you PattiP for your response, that helps!

OMG, that is the funniest posts for BC.

I am a survivor also. I found a lump when my twins were 19 or 20 months old. I had a lumpectomy followed by a mastectomy and 6 months of chemo. I am a 20 year survivor now. Good news I only get a half a mammogram now.

Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

Tx Mom - woohoo - that's awesome news!  Doing the happy dance for you :)  Enjoy your visit!

Michelle - Just continue to encourage your son.  Proto gets crazy in that they are doing all the shift work and when they are off they often just want to get caught up on their sleep.  Be a good listener & sounding board!  Proto definitely helps prepare them for the crazy schedules they'll keep in the fleet.

TX Mom - yea!!!

I received a call from my son this morning!  He had been at sea for 4.5 months.  He'll be taking vacation at the end of the year so either 1) I'm going to him or 2) I'm flying him home.  I'm so happy!!!  It's hard being a Navy mom but it sure makes you appreciate them more!  I just wanted to share.

Michelle0206 - my daughter is staying in GC for prototype and just classed up yesterday.  She is an MM.  I don't know if different ratings class up at different times, but maybe there's a light on the horizon.

Good morning ladies. I haven't posted anything in a long time. Sometimes I have trouble even logging on. My son is in Charleston waiting for Prototype after graduating from Power School way back in June. He doesn't seem to have any specifics as to when they will start. He is an ET. Anyone in the same situation out there? And any advice or info on how to provide support during Prototype and what to expect?
