Oh Gee Tom,,,,My son is a PO2nd class with a new BMW.

But he is easy going and likes everybody.

Gee, I have never had that negative response and I get the picture from my boy that he is well liked on the boat. He said they have a good crew that all get along.

As most here have shared before. Most of our kiddos in the nuke program were not top students. They played too many on line games and seemed goalless. We also have become amazed how well they do in the Nuke program. Mine said to me that he was bored in School. Never challenged. He said once in the Navy he was challenged for the first time and he really enjoyed it. He had no choice but to perform at the top of his game. He has matured more than I could have dreamed he would. He is a smart, responsible, considerate young man. We all know that his program transforms the smartest kids into young adults we can all be proud of.

Hi all - Happy Thursday!

NancyJo - his shoulder is much better so that's a relief.  After class today he was meeting with a medical administrator at the VA to get the rest of his medical benefits figured out.  He's hoping he'll get his medical card & have a primary dr assigned to him finally.

JayDee - they will definitely make lifelong friends in the nuke program (and the Navy in general).  My son still hangs out with all his Navy buddies and the majority of them are nukes....they just seem to "get" each other lol.  And my sons GF was also a nuke - different ship - so between the 2 of them they have lots of nuke friends.

Prototype is definitely it's own beast.  My son liked proto better than PS though (and did better in proto too).  To each his own!

Tom, my daughter did NJROTC in high school.  She loved her Senior Chief and we've kept in touch. In fact, he was the first phone call she made from my cell after PIR.   When she graduated from A School I sent him a picture.  His comment was *#!* it too me 2 years to make PO 3rd class.  But he was pretty excited for her.  He has always backed her up and wrote an impressive recommendation when she applied to the Academy.

This, Tom, is why we love you.

NancyJo, it's good to hear that the Nuke's stick together!  I've been concerned as I hear that the new kids on the ship are outsiders for awhile.  My daughter is a tough little thing.  This is all she's wanted for a long time.  Fortunately she doesn't worry much about what others think but it will make me feel better knowing she isn't out there by herself.
