Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

HISTORY
Although the first ship to carry the name Whidbey Island, there was at one time a ship on Navy rolls named USS Whidbey (AG-141), a small transport purchased from the U. S. Army and servicing U. S. Trust Territories in the late 1940s.
Whidbey Island, the first ship in a class designed specifically to interface with the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), assisted in the operational and developmental testing of the amphibious assault craft from July to September 1985 and again in May and July 1986.

lol...that's okay. I didn't have any questions. Just would like to speak with others that have loved ones on the ship. It kind of makes me feel closervice to my Sailor.

Hello to you all, my son is stationed on the USS Whidbey Island. I had a problem getting his ballot to him for this election. We live in Ohio. I got him an absentee ballot, and put it in another envelope, put 2 stamps on it and mailed it on Oct 24. The envelope was a bit see through and if you inspected it closely you could tell it was a ballot. I should have mailed it a little more stealth. I was returned to my house on Nov 15, stamped MISSENT. The address was correct since he did receive mail a week earlier. I am looking for people who have had similar situations. Please contact me if you know of anyone.

Can someone let me know if there is a shuttle or bus service from the Barracks area to where the ship has been relocated? Contemplating taking son's truck to him, but concerned about parking, and if there is transportation, can save the hassel of driving it down there.

So my daughter just found out that she can't come home for Thanksgiving or Christmas, she's obviously sad about this as am I of course :( Anyone know if they have an adopt sailor for the holidays program out there? Or what those that do not have family there do during Thanksgiving and Christmas? This is first holiday season away from home so it's going to be difficult for her, I just don't want her to feel alone.

Skippy, sounds great! She loves to meet the other family members I communicate with through this amazing site! Although she will be with me (thankfully) for a few days during the Christmas season, so if she's not there she's with me :D
