Getting ready to drive my son down to the hotel, leaves tomorrow! This seems a lot harder then when he left for college!

I understand.  We left mine at the recruiters on the 31st and then saw him off at MEPS on Feb. 1!  I was so happy to get the call that he had arrived and was safe.

Received "the call" last night about 7:15 pm our son arrived at boot camp.  Now wait for the box and letter.  Still emotional and miss him.  Can't help but be a worried mama.  But happy for him and looking forward to PIR.  It will be here before we know it, right??  And it gets better, right??  All of us newbie boot camp moms could use some assurance about now.

We also just dropped our son at the recruiter's this morning, hotel tonight, MEPS/boot camp Tuesday.  He is our only.  So heart wrenching.  Good to have the N4M group out there for support/information in upcoming weeks.

Hello CherylG, him leaving to BC is definitely different than him going off to college. My son left on 1/24 and it is by far different than I expected it to be. For me, the not knowing/communicating with him is the hard part, BUT I know that "NO news is good news." The great thing is having sites like this. Best of luck to him and you tomorrow

Thats it! Just dawned on me that its not being able to just text him or call him, that has me feeling anxious! Thanks for the insight!
Daughter in the way to the hotel now. Proud and sad at the same time.

We drove down Sunday, and he left yesterday. It was harder on us, than on him. :-) We were lucky that he was able to text with us until about 9 pm. I'm glad that we decided to take today off, because I still get teary and a little emotional.

Hello my son left for boot camp Feb 1st and I revived his box today. Did you receive any papers in it? I had read someplace that his box would have his information in it

Melissa, no, the form letter will arrive in the mail. The Form Letter arrives an average of ten days after the recruit's arrival at the RTC. Some will have it 7 days after arrival (a few earlier than that, but not many) and most will have it by 14 days after arrival. It will tell you your recruit's address and PIR date and other important information. Keep it in a safe place.

Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

What time do they usually arrive at RTC? My son is coming from CA.

Hi CherylG, my son left to BC on 1/24 and we received the scripted call at about 11:30 pm. We are also in California. Hugs

Thanks!
