OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

It’s ok to worry we all have. Once you receive the form letter which is the next thing you will receive that will be the address you will use. My son’s PIR is May 11 and he has called at twice remember no call is a good call. We received one letter and that’s ok we told him not to stress on writing us. Don’t worry too much they are taking care of him. My son never ironed any of his clothes and now he does. Hope this helps.

Good Morning KindredSpirit do not use the address on the box. they have changed the way they send out the form letter now, here is the site, . this site will give you more insight. did he not put his address book in his wallet. He may have been scared and just put everything in the box. when you do get the form letter write your numbers down on the letter. Please be calm, I know this is hard, and very hard to understand. I'm gald you received the Box, You are in my prayers for strength. please let me know if you need anything. just remember no news is good news.
When to Expect Your Form Letter
The first PFA is on the fifth business day after arrival. There is info in Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training ... for you. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

KindredSpirit you can get the address from Recruitwer but we ask that you wait fir the form letter because there are times they give you to much detail that you do not need.
Your recruit will mail the form letter, which will include the address, to you the day after passing the first PFA, which means it will be mailed no earlier than the sixth business day after arriving at the RTC. (See When to Expect Your Form Letter.) (You can find a copy of the current form letter in the Page, The Form Letter. The brochure that is included from MWRGL about hotels and other things is at RTC Friends and Family Brochure July 2017 rev.pdf.) The average time to receive the form letter now is seldom less than 10 days after arrival and can be 14 days or more after arrival for some, especially if the recruit failed the first PFA and passed on the second attempt. (See Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) and Fitness Improvement Training (FIT).)
It is best to wait for the form letter before mailing letters to your recruit since things can happen that will result in the recruit being moved from the division the recruit was assigned to upon arrival at the RTC. If you have waited at least two calendar weeks since your recruit arrived at the RTC and you decide to get an address from your recruit's recruiter, then double-check the address the recruiter gave you against those at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact.html#contact. Recruiters sometimes give a generic address for the RTC and if the street address is not correct, then mail can be delayed for up to 3 weeks or not get to your recruit at all.

Called the recruiter before I saw the rest of your comments. I saw...I got an address ...and immediately picked up the phone. I was told that he didn't have access to that and was just brushed off. So...I guess I wait like you all recommended anyway. I'm sorry for being so ridiculous. I'm trying, really I am.

KindredSpirit, it is hard to have no contact. You have to remember "no news is good news". We are here to listen. My son left my house on a Wednesday. We watched him be sworn in on Thursday. I got a I am here call, only a few seconds, not everyone gets that. His box arrived the next Tuesday. It was torture waiting for the form letter. Ladies were saying I thought my letter. Still not one. It took two whole weeks for me to get the letter. And apparently that was early. I feel how you feel. We just have to wait and realize we might not hear anything for the whole time. And tell ourselves no news is good news and let that be our comfort. I am sorry this is so hard on you but no we are all in this together and we are here to listen.

KindredSpirit - It is my understanding that when the recruits pack their boxes, they have been up for some time, being kept awake so may be sleep deprived, and items may be added or left out of their box. Several months after PIR, my son mentioned to me that he had almost forgot to include his cell phone in his box. He was so intent on doing everything correct, (addressing the box, and what to put in it , I think) and he had set his phone aside that he almost missed putting it in the box. Something about, thankfully, the bottom had not been taped up yet and so he was able to push it through the bottom opening. There is a lot going on around them when they are packing their boxes, so something may get missed or placed in by accident.
When my son left for BC, I had very little information from the recruiters and I knew nothing about this website. In fact, I didn't know about it until I was trying to find information on PIR. The only site I had to go to was the RTC bootcamp site. I didn't have any specific time frames for when to expect a box, when his form letter would arrive, or when I might received his first letter. I did know his things would be mailed to me, and I knew that I would get a letter with his mailing address but other than that, I had to just trust. And that can be the hardest thing for us moms to do at times - but we have all been through it.
With the new PT requirements, the form letters are not sent out as quickly to make sure your recruit is in their correct division. It is okay, to feel rather lost to this entire scenario, and okay to ask questions. We are here to support each other.
And the address on the box is from their central RTC mailing as I recall and nothing like the address where you will send your letters to.

You will get through this and as I have looked at other discussions you are on, prayer is sometimes all we can do and stay positive ourselves and hopeful. As mom's we want to take care of our children, fix their problems and make sure they don't mess up. This is a training time for us as well to learn what we can and can't do, and that when we can't, we learn who we need to lean on.

KindredSpirit-- I know how you are feeling but please try and hold it together. Your form letter will come soon and before you know it you will blink and it will be PIR -- another blink and it's A school graduation -- blink again and it's first duty station/deployment -- blink, blink and it's reenlistment or they are getting out! It doesn't feel like it now but this is training for you too. There will be weeks/ months with little to no communications and this time will seem like the easy days. I will say that this site helped me know what my SR was doing and that helped take some of the fear/worry/anxiety away. http://www.navydep.com/forums/index.php
It is good that you didn't get the address from the recruiter for multiple reasons but it is also the beginning of learning OPSEC and PERSEC. You will need to learn to live by those 2 rules as will your Sailor. -
