Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I finally got a letter today from my son. How does sandbox work and will he a reply faster this way from me?

Sandboxx is an app. Download it, pay a small fee depending on how often your use it to buy credits (1 credit for 1 letter) have hour SR address ready, write the letter, attach a photo and send it. Youll get a confirmation once its recieved. It will also have an attached blank envelope and stationary pre stamped for a return letter so SR will have no delay to reply.

Momof2sailors, I have found that regular mail takes 15 days!!!! to get to my SR from Texas. Sandboxx letters gets there in two days. His letters back to me take much less time, for some reason. Maybe about 5-6 days.

Yes from Cali. It took 6 day bc to get there. Which wasnt too bad. Once we got an address we bought a book of stamps and sent a letter out every day. So he had something from home at every mail call, however about 3 never got there out of about 20! So it wasnt a biggie. I used sandbox the last week or so.

Sandboxx is great. Your letter will be printed & FedEx’d to GL; if you send it by 5 pm your guy will get it the next day.

RTC has asked that we not use Sandboxx since it is a violation of OPSEC and PERSEC! Please just mail letters via snail mail from home.

I just wonder if RTC doesn't want folks to use Sandboxx, why they allow them to keep delivering. The recruits request Sandboxx letters. Seems like the Commander or chief would tell recruits to pass on to family members not to use Sandboxx if it violates OPSEC. Just saying.....

Loved using Sandboxx! Loved that I could see when it was delivered, usually 2 days time! Loved being able to snap a picture & attach it to our letters! Our son was able to see our doggies and a selfie we took on a ski trip while he was in boot camp! Although they also get a self addressed stamped envelope, it doesn’t mean they write back right away! The recruits usually only have time on Sundays to write letters!

From what I have heard RTC is ok with them using it in boot camp but they don't recommend it for after due to OPSEC and PERSEC. But once they are out of BC you will have regular contact with them so it shouldn't be an issue.
