Good idea! My son is Simon.

Hello NormaH - Hope to get to see you at the graduation ceremony - I am anxious to find out where they will be so I can make my seating arrangements accordingly.

Hi, I'm Ricky's mom.  He's in the same ship and division.  Got my first phone call today - it was so great to hear his voice!  Thanks for starting this group.  It's so comforting to know that I'm not the only mom who is confused!  Looking forward to seeing everyone at graduation!

I'm Simon's mom. Wasn't it great to talk to them! It was perfect timing for us because today happens to be his birthday! Good luck to Div 174!

Yes - good luck to Ship 03/Div 174 - they need it and will certainly make us all proud when we see them march out those doors on 6/8/12!!:)

Hello - we also got a call from our son in the same ship 03 div 174 today! So happy to hear from him...he said that the ship/div will be able to call every Sat as long as they all deserve it - so let's encourage them to keep up the good work in our letters to them! All is going well and hopefully that will continue until we see them on 6/8/12 at PIR!!

Got that call today! So glad!

on facebook there is a page called Navy Recruit Training Command. Its the 'official' page of the Navy RTC. It looks like we can answer trivia questions and they take pictures of the div your recruit is in. Thought Id share the info and see if you liked the page as well?

hi NormaH and Robertsmom... how are you all holding in there? I got a letter from Michael on Tuesday ... it was great to hear from him.

Hi! I got a call today! I was so glad to hear from him. By the way, today is his birthday so it was really great! I also, received a letter. I hope we all get to meet in June. Good luck to Div 174!

Hello mrsjphj - I am holding in just fine although I went to a baseball game on Sun and cried when the National Anthem was sung! So I am going to bring a box of tissues with me for PIR on 6/8!  Hopefully we will get a call Sat from our son - no letters yet although he said he did write - I am checking out hotels and will likely book air travel today!

Hi everyone! Check out the Navy Lodge - you don't have to be a service member to stay there, you just have to give them your SR's name as your "sponsor."  We got a double room with a kitchen for $66/night!  It is located just outside the gates for the base, however, there is no shuttle to graduation - you have to drive in. Just google Navy Lodge - Great Lakes for the info.

Also, got another letter today; they made Ricky a "stickman," which means he will be carrying one of the flags for PIR. I think I'm gonna' have to borrow some of those tissues!
