If you would like information on your future Sailor’s rating (job/occupational specialty) or field, then let me know the rating or field. There are groups for most specialties and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

Make at least change 3 at the bottom of OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes to Your Profile) (clickable link).

There may be other changes you need to make as well, so read and consider each of the changes.

Another change that I recommend that is mentioned in change 1 is to change the ZIP Code to one that is not easily associated with you or your future Sailor.

Since she has a ship date, you can change "Thinking about joining" above to "Waiting to leave for Boot Camp.” You can make that change on the same page when you change the ZIP Code.

Join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in September. You will meet others with loved ones leaving 09/13/2017 or that week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together.

Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC.

I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and begin checking out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view.

CrazyMama,

That is awesome!!!  I hope she gets what she wants.  One thing I will let you in on, the recruiters have nothing to do with what rating she gets. That is all up to the detailers, they know what the Navy needs, what is available, and when it is available.  If there is something she really wants and it's not available right away, she needs to decide if she is able to wait until it is, or does she have a second choice.  Recruiters may try to talk her into something else, but again, only the detailers know what's available and when.

CrazyMama,

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.  You can post on my profile page or post them on the Daughters 2 group page.  There are several moms who are also new and could benefit from your questions!!!  Does she know what job/rating she wants to try for?

CrazyMama,

Also, please don't feel that you HAVE to change your zipcode.  That is not an issue with OPSEC that can't be shared.  That is one way that other members can find out if you are nearby and might be interested in meet and greets in your area.  There is a move to try to get more meet and greets within N4Ms.
