My son called and he was finally ASMOd from the RCU to a new Div so he can finish out BC and graduate! So happy! They do an "alternate cardio" option now so he doesn't have to run and jump on that bone he's been healing for 3 months and it uses a stationary bike he's been training on (and exceeding OPFA standards on because they gave him a Mock OPFA to be able to ASMO him.) He was so relieved and so are we. And all on his 18th! What a gift! I was happy to hear they could do the training for…

I just wanted to double check. Can you send a letter that requires more than one stamp to RTC? My kid is in RCU with an injury and will be there a couple more months. He is desperate for things to do and read. I'm happy to enclose some puzzles, questionnaires, magazine pages from his favorite mags (appropriate ones, like Scuba etc) and that sort of thing. His Dad had a couple envelopes that were just over an ounce and put a second stamp on them (in #10 envelope). Is this going to be a…

I really thought I saw something about this on this site before and haven't been able to find it specific to the number of stamps used. My son heads out to boot camp next week. He has some basic swim skills from years ago, but found his body has forgotten how to hold his breath in the water. Will they offer some kind of remedial swim lessons for those that need it?

I'm a complete novice to the Navy scene! My son is graduating boot camp on 10/28. How long should we expect to be at the graduation ceremony? We want to make dinner reservations to celebrate. Will we have time for that? Thanks, Sulayne

Hey Ya'll, I have a question. My recruit is scheduled to graduate this Friday 3/18 however, I received a call from her last night stating she was 25sec off on the running assessment. She will try again on Wednesday. She said if she doesn't pass, it'll be reviewed by the board and from there, they'll determine if she gets setback two more weeks or is discharged. She was setback in January for not passing but was almost 5 min off the target goal. We've bought flight tickets, made hotel…

She was setback in January for not passing but was almost 5 min off the target goal. We've bought flight tickets, made hotel accommodations and arrangements for our pets. We won't know until Wednesday if she passes. How can this be? We waited until last week to make plans, but were we supposed to wait until the day before she graduated? I'm so confused, frustrated and anxious about this. Any warm comforting words of encouragement are appreciated. Hey everyone.
My son is currently in BC. On P-4, the unit was asked if parents had previously served, to merge dependent & service record..
At that time, a prior prescription was identified. (We had disclosed to recruiter, but it was brushed off as non-important since my son never actually took it.)
Long story short, when he was 15 I requested to have him evaluated due to us moving a lot. He was having behavioral issues. As part of the process, he was admitted for a few days.
No depression or anxiety, no serious issues. I believe the diagnosis was impulse control disorder or something to that extent... but he did not require further intervention. Dr basically implied he was a teenage boy.
Fast forward to now.
P-4 found prescription history. He was told it could result in separation.
However, he has remained with his unit so far & continued through training so far & he is in week 2-3.
Now, the Dr is working with him to try and get a waiver.
But I question the likelihood of a successful waiver & the entire process itself.
Is it a good sign that he has been allowed to stay with his unit?
Has anyone experienced a similar circumstance & had a positive result?
Is there anything I can do to facilitate this process & increase odds of waiver approval?

Hi Navy Moms!

Our son left for Basic 3 weeks ago and everything seemed fine. Got the first call and 2 days ago we got our first letter (sent a few days after he arrived - he was doing great). Then, later that same day, we get a call that he has been injured and was being taken to the hospital for Xrays. Today he called, 3 stress fractures, a fractured foot and he is being separated from the Navy. It was os hard to hear his call (I was in a bad area for reception). He says…

Then, later that same day, we get a call that he has been injured and was being taken to the hospital for Xrays. Today he called, 3 stress fractures, a fractured foot and he is being separated from the Navy. It was os hard to hear his call (I was in a bad area for reception). He says he is getting a DD214 and can reapply in 6-12 months. I feel so bad for him! He has never been hurt before and now he is on crutches with his dreams crushed! He was on the Nuke path and so excited about life. He has wanted to be a Sailor since he was 6. I've left a message for Legal and our Red Cross liaison trying to get more information since the connection was so bad.

Has anyone else been through this and had a successful reapplication?

Our other son is currently in the Navy, and he was ASMO'd for a failed PFA, but graduated.

I need some encouragement (if warranted), or a reality check.
Boottag:navyformoms.ning.com,2021-07-22:1971797:Topic:112883362021-07-22T20:06:51.798ZSandyhttps://navyformoms.ning.com/profile/Sandy848
