You will have to copy and paste this to word and tweak it a little so that it works for you. This is one of the questionnaires I made and sent to my sailor/daughter. It is a great one to send now that your recruits are halfway through. Plus you can get answers to questions you need answers to. And they take less time than writing a letter so the recruits love them. Change it around and make it yours and have fun with it. There are some very encouraging parts near the end.…

Ok, now is time for some advice.
I guess you have realized that boot camp in many ways has gotten easier in the last couple of weeks. But now it is getting hard again. The RDC’s have loosened up a little and you have made some friends. It is no longer about what you can do. It is about what your group can do together as a team. When you are going through battle stations remember what they want is teamwork. There is no “I” in team. You must be able to work together. Battlestations is to prepare you for an actual emergency on a ship. They have to know that you have what it takes to handle any kind of emergency situation. So when you are going into battlestations think of yourself as just one very small part of a machine. If all the other parts are not working the machine will fail. If one part is having a hard time you must step in and help that part out. If you need to take the lead do it. If you need to let someone else take the lead let them. That’s what teamwork is. You can do this. You should know by now that you have to work together. The RDC’s are not looking for who does the best at this point. They are looking at how well you come together as a group and how you handle an emergency. Take care of your team first and do your part. Help those who are having a hard time. Don’t think you can’t be set back at this point because you can. You have to keep busting your ass to get this done. You have come too far and grown too much to turn back. Now it is time to finish this task. If a division does bad as a group it looks bad on the person in charge. It makes him/her look like they didn’t do their job. So bust your butts and get this done together as a team. You can do this. Most recruits say battle stations is fun after it is over. But you must have that teamwork. So make sure everything y’all do from this point on is all about teamwork. Yeah!!!! GO TEAM!!! You got this, you really do. Good luck! And this Navy Mom loves you all….

26. Answer only questions 1 -3 above. Hasn’t the Navy taught you anything?
"When you take your Recruit out on liberty, we know you will want to spend as much time with them as possible. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

Your Recruit should be given ample time to walk to their ship before the expiration of liberty.

Recruits may not travel more than 50 miles from base during liberty, meaning no further than downtown Chicago.

Recruits may not use alcohol or tobacco products, nor drive a vehicle.

Recruits must remain in uniform at all times. (*Note:The old Family guide had the words "...while in public." added to the end of the Uniform statement and it was taken off on the new one.

Recruits may not bring civilian items (clothes, mobile phone, MP3 player, etc.) or food back to RTC."

...and their FAQ page:(Bold mine)

"Liberty is ‘time off’ from the daily routine. Graduating Sailors will be granted liberty to go off-base during the day with their families.

Graduating Sailors may not smoke, drive, or consume alcoholic beverages while on liberty.

Graduating Sailors must stay within a 50-mile radius of RTC.

Graduating Sailors must remain in their complete uniform while on liberty. If they are engaging in physical activity or swimming, they must be in authorized Navy issued workout gear.

Recruits reporting to A School at Training Support Center Great Lakes will detach from RTC on Friday. All other recruits will depart on Saturday. To get the most accurate information please contact your recruit.

Families may not enter the base after graduation and will need to meet graduating Sailors for liberty at the main RTC gate.

Graduating Sailors departing RTC for follow-on training the same day as graduation or in a duty status will be granted limited on-base liberty.

Graduating Sailors receive an in-depth liberty briefing prior to their graduation day."

That being "said" we have tried to poll the recent PIR groups on this and most of the responses were that they were no longer allowed to change into civies in the hotel room. But I don't think we got enough feedback to say it is a definite "no".

Your new Sailors are given an in-depth briefing about Liberty. Follow their lead. If they ask, then I would bring it...the worst that could happen is that they say "no" at the briefing ...but they could say, "YES"!

One of the most physically challenging and motivating events in your training calendar is Basic Seamanship. You will start with the basics of line handling and shipboard watch standing. Don't relax, your training will move quickly. By the end of the third day you will be tested on getting the USS MARLINESPIKE (simulated training ship) underway and back to port safely as a team. Successful completion of this vigorous training will put you one step closer to the final hurdle "Battle Stations."

Are you Sea Worthy?

We cannot post the dates on this board. Your SR will give you the date when close to the end of bootcamp. We can private message the dates though. RTC wants you to start practicing OPSEC which means no talk about ship movement. They want you to consider BattleStations as ship movement since it is a drill where the SRs face many situations they might when at sea.
