Hello all! I was just given some phone numbers that I thought someone else may be able to use at some point:

Public Affairs Office (PAO): They can tell you where your child is being housed and give you an address to write to them: 847-688-2405

Medical Liason: I used this one for my son who was recovering from an injury. They will arrange for your child to call home so that you can get some information about what's going on! I think you can probably do this once, when they first get there: 847-561-6521

Kathy,
I just called Publice Affairs and they checked where Lucy is and they said they will either have run today or tomorrow. They said they have will have her call if she doesn't pass. I wonder how many times they let them have? Does anyone know? Pray she makes it!
Thanks for all your help!
Cindy
Kathy, PAO can also get you a phone call when you are frantic to get a call from your recruit. Not every day obviously. But they will have them call you back if you are sufficiently frantic and expressive of that fact!
LOL I'm always frantic for a phone call from either one of my recruits!!! :)
My son just left 2 days ago, would the PAO already be able to give me an address? I called his recruiter today but he said it would be a couple of weeks before he would have the address but then he said " Well call me Monday and I will see if I can get it by then".
Yes! Call the PAO and see if they have him in the system. Call every day if you need to!! Get those letters ready to start mailing! :)
I am so greatful to have found this phone number, my daughter has been in BC for 21 days. I've sent numerous letters to her. I began writing even before I had her address. Today, she called. I didn't hear my phone and just discovered the message. The poor think is in tears. She has not received any of the cards, letters or trinkets I have sent. She is usually not home sick, but she sounds just awful. I will be calling the PAO tomorrow to clarify her address. I am hart sick.
Sandra, they cannot get trinkets in boot camp. Only letters and cards, in which you can insert phone cards. That is it.
By trinkets, I should have said, stamps, cards, and a couple of photo's.
Oh OK, just don't want to see anyone with the stuff they send in limbo. Some of my son's mail got to him some didn't. I don't know what goes on with the mail, but he got the important stuff.LOL
My kidlet usually is emotional, she's been away for entire summers where I couldn't reach her nor she to me, so when the call came in, and I missed it, I was just beside myself. I just learned that when my daughter didn't reach me, she called a friend and someone who has been her mentor in the Sea Cadet program, he was able to calm her. I feel better, but now it hits...I really miss her.
I know what you mean. I have 2 sons, one 32 lives 3000 miles away, but can be reached by phone. This lack of communication with boot camp is really hard, but it is training for when they are on a ship or overseas somewhere and can't reach us.When My 25 year old was in Boot camp I was a wreck.
I just called the number listed but the lady said that they do not give out addresses and that I would need to wait until my child mailed me his address. What is up with that?
