For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

5 Stages of Boot Camp for Parents & Loved ones
Hi All,
A boot camp Dad posted this on facebook and I thought is was so good, I wanted to share it her:
The Five Stages Of Loved Ones During Basic Training. Stage
1: Denial ... The first thought is one of disbelief. The person cannot believe their Loved One wants to join the Navy. (Are you kidding me???) This stage is often accompanied by deep sighs and a hope that sanity will return.
Stage 2: Anger “OK. Are you are just doing this to get even with me for something? Why are you trying to be mean me? Have you sought professional help?“
Stage 3: Bargaining “If you don’t go, I will cook your favorite meal EVERY DAY.”
Stage 4: Depression “OMG, (He /She) really is gone to Boot Camp. I won’t get a letter for TWO WHOLE WEEKS! And no phone calls for a MONTH! And I won’t get to see (him / her) for TWO MONTHS!!! Sigh… Life as I have known it is over… “
Stage 5: Acceptance “PIR is almost here!!! I am so excited!!! I am so proud!!! What am I going wear? How do I get there? Can my entire extended family attend? Can I stand next to my Sailor during PIR? Will there be an entire team of photographers and videographers dedicated to my Sailor’s every move? Can I meet (him / her) outside before they march in? Can I come live in their Division area with them until Graduation Day??? Etc… etc… And then suddenly, before you know it, you are sitting there and the door rises and in they march in to the Drill Hall ...

There would have been sugestions within the grad pack that came with the form letter and there is also info on places within Recommended Places to Stay in the group, PIR Reference Information.
Join the group for your SR's PIR: PIR 01/25/2013 TG 11 - 9 Divisions (069-076 and 911), PIR 01/18/2013 TG 10 - 11 Divisions (059-068 and 910), PIR 01/11/2013 TG 9 - 7 Divisions (053-058 and 909), or PIR 01/04/2013 TG 8 - 9 Divisions (045-052 and 908).
You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups.

Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups as well as in the PIR group. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. For now I suggest you read, OPSEC and PERSEC (Making Changes To Your Profile) (and make any needed changes described at the bottom), Arrival and What Happens at the RTC, and Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and then check out the other Pages in the different groups one or two at a time.

My son leaves for the hotel on the 14th and flies out to Chicago from Denver on the 15th. This is the first good laugh I have had in awhile! Thank you for the much needed comic relief, it's like you have been there....hmmmmm...
I am between stages 3 and 4 at the moment. Good to know I will at some point in the near future round the corner and come face to face with acceptance. :)

You may wish to join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January. You will meet others with loved ones leaving that day/week who may be in the same TG and have PIR together and connecting with others who are going through the same things you are will help you. Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for the RTC. I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and New Members Stop Here and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

My daughter graduate on Friday. I don't think I will be able to go. I am having some financial problems right now. Do you guys know of anyone that is going or any agencies that will help me. PLEASE HELP :(

There are no organizations available to help with funds for families to attend PIR. Have you checked in the PIR group to see if perhaps there is someone who would be willing to carpool with you and/or perhaps share a hotel room?

My son left yesterday and we got the call at 2:20 am this morning, I'm going to miss talking to him on the phone or facebook, my son was away in college for 3 years but he was closed enough that I could drive to see him and bring him groceries, I'm sad but happy at the same time because I know he's happy with his decision and what he wants to do, but he's my only son, I have 2 girls, older and younger, he's in the middlel.

Icelsa (Marcusmom), there is something special about our boys....it will be a wonderful journey for both of you. Ask lots of questions on here...the ladies are amazing. Join the group with his graduation date, and any other group that is pertinent to you. Many prayers and words of encouragement are offered here for the sailors and the families. We are all Navyfamily
