For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Still no letter today. Hoping we will get it soon. We got his box last Thursday. Way sooner than expected. I know the letter will make us all feel better here and closer to him.

He flew out of Texas on 10/06. Got the last call around 11pm that night.

Our form letter was post marked 10-9, With the holiday on Monday, that could cause a delay--also when (day and time) that they start P days makes a difference too. A video that we watched said that when they are starting Pdays--there can be several different groups at various stages processing at the same time. hat could delay it as well. Don't worry, it will come.

A friend of mine at work who is former Navy told me earlier in the week that when she went through boot camp a few years ago, that if there were not enough to form a DIV to add to a ship, that they were grouped together and working through things until they had enough and they were assigned. Not sure that is the case here as she had that happen to her and that was 10+ years ago. Keep watching though...the holiday may have delayed it.. It will come. If not, I recall seeing a post by lemonelephant that related to the topic and what to do...be patient-it will come. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.

Thank you, @Cameronsmom. I am thinking I just need to stop stalking the mail and keep my mind off of it. I know it will come soon, if not I can call his recruiter for his grad info. Appreciate all the info and support here. Praying for comfort for everyone.

Don't worry--it will come and at least you got a minute call!! That is a treat, even if it was a minute. I know how hard this is for me to have my son there, I can only imagine what you are feeling as a wife who's husband is there. Stay strong...the next call will hopefully be longer and you can catch up.
When my son called the night he arrived, he gave the script of what he had to say and we barely had time to say stay strong we love you...and he hung up. I checked the phone call record--they had up to 2 min from what I read, his lasted all of 23 seconds. When I got the box, his phone was in there and he let another recruit use his phone based on the area code that was in there...then the phone was off.
We will all get through boot camp together.

My husband and I have been married for 31 years come 10/20. I have been away from my hubby only 2 times, a week at a time and I was a mess-cried every evening. But this summer, my hubby went away for a weekend to visit family and I was even more of a mess than when I was gone (once for work and once for my mom being sick). When I was gone, I was busy and working. When he was gone, I was home with the boys and lost without him. He and my two sons hiked the Appalachian Trail starting in Harpers Ferry MD toward the middle of September this year as a final bonding thing for the guys. I drove them there and then picked them up when they were done. You would have thought that they were leaving forever...it was me, alone with the dog and cats. My house was never cleaner---I couldn't sleep, so I kept busy when I wasn't working. It's always hard to be away form those we love. I know what I felt on the small handful of times we were apart, but never as long as what you will be experiencing. Hold tight to the love for each other and always keep communication open.

Has anyone else had their son/daughter arrive in GL on the 6th but not received the form letter yet? I got The Box the Monday after my son arrived in GL and a phone call from him on Wednesday (info needed for some paperwork) and he said the form letter had been sent. At what point should I consider trying to contact someone to get his address? Also, for the folks who got there on the 6th, is the graduation date the Wednesday before thanksgiving or the first Friday in December? Thanks everyone for any info you can give.
