I got "The Box" yesterday....just all his dirty clothes and his phone. Was hopeful for a note....but I know he was soooo tired. It was nice to even get his laundy!

Did it come USPS or UPS or Fedex?
Ours came Fed Ex. Also just dirty laundry but nice to get that piece of him.

FedEx

Thanks everyone for sharing. It let's us know we aren't alone in feeling the loss of their presence at home, their strength in going out on their own and making that passage from teenager/young adult to a self sufficient (well, almost. ..we all know they still need their mom!) adult. Proud of everyone - the ones going to BC and those of us who stayed behind and are supporting their dreams.
How are you doing?

At the moment sad,but I know this is temporary. I think BC is as much for them as it is us, to prepare us for limited communication for years to come! My son signed up for subs. At least I know there a lot of schooling after BC.

I am hopeful for a little note as well, but I know unless he wrote it on the plane, there won't be one. They don't have time for that once they get to training camp. It's good to know to look for Fed Ex. We haven't gotten ours yet, but we are on the east coast, so it could take an extra day or two. My son tended to be like Oscar of the Odd Couple--room a mess and clothes everywhere. It's still that way. I look at it as therapy for me when I get the courage to do so, I'm going to go in and wash everything for him and neatly put it away. We are going to paint and redo the flooring too. It will help to keep me busy and be a little close to him in a way.

I think I've only cried about 10 times so far. This has been harder than I expected. He is my first born and this is the farthest and this will be the longest that he has been away from home. He was gone to Grandma's for week in the summer occasionally, but I always knew he was coming home and we could talk with him. I have always either gotten a Hi Mom text or call almost every day and now nothing. I guess I'm going through a little withdrawal. I think you are right, training camp is training us as well.

Did anyone see the Navy/Norte Dame game today? Awesome at the end where both teams honored each other's alma maters.

It's nice to be talking with Moms that have recruits there at the same time and are feeling the same way. Stay strong Moms, we can do this. That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.

Cameronsmom, check your My Page.

Oh my...little brother (my last at home) is now talking Navy too! Well at least I'd know what to expect the 2nd round. Glad he still has 2 years to go!!!

Wishing you all strength as we wait this out!

jrwmdro, check your My Page.

My son left on the 6th-I received my Fedex box on Friday :) I was sobbing when it came.
