Baby left for bootcamp from Los Angeles on 3/7/11

If my son can handle it, I should be able to do the same, right?

It's his first time out from home but he seems to be taking it much better than me.  I can't wait to start receiving letters.  He was never the gushy type and it would actually be fun to see even just a line or two.  I know it's a long ways from bc graduation but it's all I am looking forward to right now.

BunkerQB, Can you help me understand that page with the PIR dates? PIR..is that different from the graduation ceremony? I understood that graduation was ALWAYS on a thursday, minus Thanksgiving. What does TG mean? some of these are groups graduating before my son because he is ship 12 div 159 and that's actually posted but the date is way to early. He just arrived at boot camp on the 9th of March. PIR is pass in review, right? In your reply above were you replying to my question asking to find other guys in my son's division? Or PIR date? I'm so new here, don't quite have it all down yet. THANK YOU!!!
jbird   here is the link to your PIR (Pass In Review=graduation) group   http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir562011
TG means Training Group Graduation (PIR) is ALWAYS on Friday except when there is a holiday. Then it is moved to either Wed or Thurs.

Just click on the http address of the PIR group link I just left you then click on +Join

How did you figure that out?? I clicked on a link from bunkerQB but my son's division and ship were not under the date of May 6th..?? Always Friday? The captain at Meps said always Thursday..so PIR is graduation?

thanks for the info

looking at the pir dates- under may 6th what does 157 with the + sign mean?

here is what you click on   http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir562011

then in the upper right hand corner is +JOIN click on that to join the group

The RTC has not posted the divisions for PIR 5/6 but 4/29 ends with div 156 so we know that PIR 5/6 begins with div 157
Bunker put 157+ meaning that PIR 5/6 has divsions 157 and up
ah I see!! ok so as of today, I can expect our son's graduation date to be 5/6? I just wonder if something would hold him back for some reason and if so, when would he then graduate?
I am so glad to have found this forum- it's good to know I'm not the only one feeling so sad. My son told me about N4M before he left, but I think I was in denial, and couldn't bring myself to look here until after her left. He left Mon 3/7, and we got the phone call Tues night/Wed morning at 2:30am...still waiting for the form letter and a real letter. In my head, I know he's fine (watching the videos that BunkerQB posted links to helps... shows you that boot camp is a strength and character building experience), but I miss him like crazy and I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life! He's in ship 12 div 158, so will head over there and join that group.

...and I'm beginning to think I am doing better until I get a craving for sushi and realize that my son's the only one who indulged me with my crazy sudden cravings. So then I have to deal with this sadness all over again.  Oi!

Hey Robin, my son's in nuke, too.  He left the same time as yours did but he graduates on 4/29.  I wonder how they get divvied up like that.

Dukerican,

My son is same ship/div as yours. I've mailed him 3 letters so far. I've only gotten the box, no letter of any kind. Don't know what is and is not acceptable so I went ahead and wrote. Our recruiter had his address right away
