For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Blue Candles
I cycled through a few different ideas and ended up with this lantern with a blue 'flameless' candle that I got on Amazon (they are not easy to find!), thanks to one of the ladies that posted it here a couple months back. I bundled all of the letters I got from SR and his GF during their time in bootcamp and put them in there. I plan to use it as sort of a shadow box for other things from his time in the Navy as well. I have a photo of SR and his GF next to it and on the other side is the Blue Candle Poem.

Here is the Blue Candle light I made for the front yard. It has blue fairy solar lights that come on at dusk. The Sailors salutes the flag and the Navy emblem. I also put the Sailors Creed on one glass and the Blue Candle prayer on the opposite.

We started this discussion to share some of our Blue Candle ideas, but I know that some are also interested in PIR door decorations. Let me just share this, to my knowledge, the Navy Lodge is really the only place that I think it is even remotely suggested to put anything on your door, especially with your sailor's name and division information. This was not something that I did for my sailor, because I did not know about it and neither did some of our other seasoned moms. However, it comes up from time to time, so I wanted to share - do a Google search - navy pir hotel door decorations - all sorts of images come up, including ones that have a sailor's last name. Keep in mind that we follow OPSEC/PERSEC on this site, so No last names should be posted. If you have something you would like to share we would love to see it, just refrain from reposting with a last name, or your sailor's last name showing, please block it out before posting here.
Also, as we move back into having PIR in person, it is not recommended that you hang anything on a motel or hotel door indicating you have a sailor graduating, other than maybe at the Navy lodge. Not everyone is accepting to our military and again, their safety and even ours is first priority. Some families decorate inside their rooms, personally, mine flew out very early the next morning, so we barely had time to just get in hugs!
