Wow, I’m jealous that you got calls every other weekend! I got the initial “I’m here”, one call in the middle, one call we DIDN”T want to get but everything ended up okay, and the “I’m a sailor” call. But no every other weekend. I’m guessing that his division is pretty busy building up to their battle stations date.

@lemonelephant ... does that mean BST happens every Monday - Thursday? Can I ask my SR in my letter when BST is? I’m also On the same boat as @Sherricat - I wouldn’t want to miss the phone call “I’m
A sailor” on my way to PIR. I plan on leaving Thursday morning for the Friday graduation. And how do they decide when BST is for the SR? Thank you.

They are super busy the before PIR. They are exhausted and have a lot to get done. Dont worry. I was worried before PIR too and my son said there is no time or energy for writing. Its getting closer and its nerve wracking but it will be here before you know it.

We cannot openly discuss BST, but the last divisions of the TG have BST prior to the Thursday night of the week of PIR since if they did, then they would be too tired to walk in PIR. Also, only up to 4 divisions can go through BST on any night, so no, all of the divisions in the TG do not go through Battle Stations-21 (BST) on the same night.

Can they do battlestations any day the week of PIR or is it always thursday night? I've read conflicting information. I don't know when to expect that call and hope it doesn't come when I'm already on the plane out there from CA.

Sherricat - Like Lemonelephant said - "No news is good news!" - Not only may you not receive any communication from your SR which could be for any number of reasons, you also want to pay attention to when you mail your last letter so that it will arrive before PIR. I don't know that they return all the mail that comes in after PIR - we never got any back and I don't think my son received all the letters he was suppose to have from us or friends.

My son was not able to write one Sunday, because he had gone to medical for a cough, by the time he got back and all of his other Sunday tasks done, he did not have time to write us. That was a lonely week without mail, but thankfully he had a phone call that following Saturday, to explain.

No, you should not be concerned. "No news is good news!" Calls are totally up to the RDC and when the RDC is able to schedule the phone banks. You may get a call tomorrow, but maybe not. Then the next call will most likely be the "I'm a Sailor!" call the week of PIR.
