I didn't hear from my SR any word on her A school orders. She'll be going to corpsman training. Her recruiter told her she'd go to GL (even though a few weeks before she left, he told her it might be San Antonio). I'm hearing thru N4M, that they're sending all corpsman to SA now. Either way- does anyone know how long we'll have with our SRs after PIR?

Besides that, I thought a discussion group of us with corpsman can share any info we get on that anyway. Come join in!

That prayer is something you will recite regularly as a Navy wife. I don't know if you've heard the saying "Navy Wife, toughest job in the Navy", trust me you will understand in a few years. It's not only the one in uniform that is serving in the military, its the whole family. You all have to be supportive and loving, have a lot of patience, trust, & faith. Its very different as a mom than as a wife trust me you are their partner, we have been their guidance. I can already tell by the way you stay calm here and supportive of everyone else you care going to be a great support to other wives that you will "serve" with. I pray that someday we meet, and if you ever need anything.........

ANY OF YOU, please don't hesitate. I will do my best to help out. We have a lot of active duty and retired friends all over the world. It is truly a family, in a lot of way I am closer to my Navy family than I am my own parents & brother.

To all the mom's I understand how hard it is to sit back and watch our children make their own life, but they are in good hand. The military will take care of them. Keep you chins up and stay positive, they will start school eventually, graduate and move on to the next stage. They will all do great!

Gmom Thanks for posting the serenity prayer. I needed the reminder. God is great and always in our lives.

I am a Navy brat and I spent 4 years in the Navy, I think it is much harder on me now being a Navy mom. I will read the serenity prayer often.

Thanks for all of support when I was feeling down.

Papercrafter. you will always have support here. I know it is a lot different being in different shoes. Sometimes I think I was stronger as a Navy wife than I am as a Navy Mom, but I just keep reminding myself that he is in good hands and choosing his career & life. Its great to see him make good choices and be happy. I always try to keep motivators around the house, so that I don't get too down. When I get frustrated I just go look for a bible verse or a motivative saying that picks me back up. I know that someone else has it worse than I do. I always try to cheer everyone else up even if I'm not that cheery myself. I think it helps me get over it. You are always in my prayers.

G, my son said the same thing about being restricted to base.  He was much more upset about the girl not seeming to care much that she got everyone in trouble than he was about not being able to leave the base.  Said that when they figured out she was not on her watch and called her, she was an hour away.  Not good!  Learning responsibility is so hard.  Learning the effect that individual actions have on so many other people is even harder.  I think a lot of kids nowadays have the attitude that their actions are just about them.  I'm glad that the Navy is teaching them that no one is an island.  I'm still struggling to get my strength after the end of school and the big trip.  Tomorrow I have to leave for our church's girl's camp.  I sure wish it would have been a few more weeks away.  At the time I agreed to help, I had no idea what would be happening just before it.  I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed at the moment.  Good news is that my sailor sounds fabulous!  :)

Gnome, I'm so happy to hear you be so dedicated to your hubby!  It will definitely have it's ups and downs, but marriage is so sacred and so worth it.  Life is not easier alone and most everyone I know who divorced thinking they would find someone "better" has been sorely disappointed!  (Of course there are exceptions, but for the most part those who just say they have "fallen out of love," or who have violated their marriage vows find out that the grass is no greener.)  Stay close to the Lord and He will bless you with everything you need to get through the Navy or anything else that challenges your closeness with your hubby!  :)

I will be without electronics for a week while at camp.  Ugh!  Until next week ladies...go forth and conquer!  :)

Just checking in with everyone. I am so blessed to hear everyone so helpful and with such good advice. I am so bummed to hear about your son's class., Girls. I would've really hoped that in Bootcamp they would've learned that lesson about humility and consequences better. I say this for my own sailor too- who again is showing how young she really is. (heavy sigh)

She had gone shopping to get new sheets (yes, I went thru the necessity of that being it's for what- 4mos??) She called for advice and I reminded her that her sister would be there for a short visit this coming Sunday and could bring some of our twin sheets- all of which were used for a short time when her older sis's were away at college. Anyway, fortunately when she called last night after the shopping trip, my hubbie wouldn't let her talk to me because she was so upset with ME because she could've gotten an entire set of bedding - comforter and all for fifty bucks- but I wouldn't let her......

Heavy sigh.... some things never change...

Life is one big learning process...you are an amazing mother. You know that, right? *hugs* I know I still cause my mother grief on a weekly basis and I'm married and have lived in my own house for years...some things never change. ;) You are fabulous, and wonderful, and I love you!!! She is her own person and is learning and growing. Ultimately things are her decision-you can just support her...and you do a great job with that.

Oh a side note, my husband is the master at arms for his class...he seems to be happy about that. I'm not sure what that all entails, but I thought it was interesting. :)

My son felt so bad for spending any money he really wanted to just hang out and not go back off base. Funny thing about it is that they were both things he had wanted to buy for almost a year. He seems to be more careful with his money now then he did when he didn't have any coming in. What a change:)

On another bright note!!!! My oldest son and his wife had their baby this morning. Emily Belle 6lbs4oz 17in, all are healthy & happy. I'm pretty excited about being Grammy!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day;)

Gmom or should we say grammy

Congrat on the new granddaughter. I hope you get to enjoy lots of time with her and her parents.

Congrats!!! That is so exciting!! :)

Congrats, GMOm!!!! That is wonderful news. Do they live nearby so you can squeeze the stuffin' outta that baby any time you want??

Unfortunately right now my son is in the Air Force and clear across the country from me. We are planning a nice trip in a month to go visit both my boys & take my daughter on some college visits. She had her NROTC officer interview today. Excited for her to get home and tell me about it. What a great day!!!

Thank you ladies:)

That is so fantastic! What an awesome trip it will be.

It's great to hear that you had a great day overall. You have so much to be happy about and proud of!! :)
