I haven't been on here in forever. I'm going to be visiting my sailor in San Angelo, Texas. All I know is that it is in the middle of nowhere. Any suggestions on where to stay? I read lots of good reviews about most of the hotels but nothing beats personal experience.

My son is a CTR and is currently in C school. It is not going to extend his service contract. He graduated on June 28 and went to A school at Corry; graduated from there in October, and he and three others of his class were sent to C school in Texas which he will graduate from in February. I don't know if there are other C school locations for CTR's. From what he said (which isn't much!) when, where and what are based on what the navy needs.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! He just enlisted a few weeks ago, so this is all new to me. It helps to be in touch with others who have gone before me.

If I remember right they did not know because it depends on what specifically their CTR duties will be. Some in their A school learned morse as a specialty and other specialties were also taught. The C school had different branches in their class, Army, Air Force, etc. One of them is on a destroyer and the other is on a missile cruiser so different missions. Of course all is top secret and I do not know anything else - as it should be.

Good luck to your sailor!

Thank you for the information. Can you tell me, did they know they were going to C school before they left for boot camp, or did they find out in A school?

Tina,

My twins are both CTRs in Japan. The C school does not extend their enlistment and it may be 7-9 months for both A and C depending on when they get into school. Classes are on a schedule for starting. Mine went to Corry Station in January 2011 and were sent to duty station after a 3 week leave in November. Hope this helps.
