OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

My daughter shipped out yesterday from Houston, TX.  She was supposed to be in RTC by 9pm last night, but bad weather delayed her arrival until 1 am this morning. I received my phone call at 4 am this morning. I was so happy to hear her voice despite it being short and scripted. She sounded tired as she had been up for more than 24 hrs at this point, but she said she was good. I'm an emotional wreck right now, and so glad I found this site. I know I'm not alone!

Moms of Daughters 2

Hello Nikkiw1221, my son arrived Tuesday night. I was so happy to hear from him even though it was a short call. My emotions have been all over the place and just hoping he is doing well. Can't wait to get first letter form. I am slowly learning my way around this site. Just thankful that there is somewhere to go to get information and support if needed.

Thank you all for the encouraging words! This Mother's day will be hard as I have not spent one without my daughter in 20 years. I don't suppose they allow the recruits to call just for that do they?? I'm anxiously awaiting my form letter with her mailing address though.  The weather has been crazy here in the Houston area and I almost text her to tell her about it, until I realized I couldn't :-(    I'll have to save it for my first letter I send. ;-)

Hi Nikkiw1221! My son shipped out last night, May 14 from Houston Texad and I have been a jittery mess! I received the call at 1:44 am and it was only 13 seconds long. Hang in there. I am praying for all sailors and they will do well.
