My son wrote that some SR's have been receiving cookies. The RDC's confiscate them and place them on a desk behind the glass wall in full view. As the SR's have to march by the office, the RDC's in the office start eating away.

You can ask him in a letter what he will be doing. Also, be sure to ask him when he will perform first so you can check the photos on the RTC fB page (clickable link) to see if you can spot him. It is easier to try to sopt him if you know what he is doing--playing an instrument, carrying a state flag..... They usually perform in the 2 PIR's prior to their own.

That is not a dumb question at all. Each Training Group (TG) has a performing division. TG 12's performing division is Division 912. (Every now and then a TG will have more than one 900 division because of skipped weeks when there is no PIR.) A TG is the group of recruits who train together and have PIR on the same date.

If her Division is doing very well, then the Recruits in that Division will earn more calls.Calls before then are most often due to needing additional information, often to assist with Security Clearance, or due to a problem and are on the Navy.
Yes, recruits often earn a call in about week 3 and have usually received mail by that time. If her Division is doing very well, then the Recruits in that Division will earn more calls.Calls before then are most often due to needing additional information, often to assist with Security Clearance, or due to a problem and are on the Navy. If you have a phone call from the 847 area code, or US GOVERNMENT, or Private Call, or Restricted, be sure to answer!!! (It is possible that a Recruit could call from another area code as well--773, 224, 312, 872 are all area codes in that area.) If she didn't take an activated phone card with at least 400 minutes, send her one in your next letter.

In the Navy, "No news is good news." Your Recruit will be permitted to contact you almost immediately if something goes wrong, and if she cannot, the Navy will.

As far as letters, at first Recruits are only permitted to write on Sunday and later they are able to write on Tuesday and Thursday and some Divisions may earn the privilege of writing every day if they are doing really well. Some RDCs permit them to mail letters only on Sunday/Monday even when they can write on other days and others permit them to mail letters on the day they are written. It is up to the RDC and there does not seem to be a "norm" for this. Regardless of how many letters you get from her, keep writing because letters mean so much. Those in 900 divisions often have less time to write due to all the practices, so letters are shorter or less frequent than in some other divisions.

You may see her in the photos on the RTC fB page (clickable link) about 2 weeks before her own PIR since 900 divisions participate in a couple of PIRs befoe their own.
