This will be a great place to share the news for our SRs in Division 86.  As we get letters or phone calls you can share the news with other moms/wives/gfs.  Be careful what you post though....we don't want to cause any extra issues for our SRs...I am sure they will be causing enough on their own as they figure things out.

Sounds good to me. Its bright and cheerful.. Pink is too but i do not think it would be a good idea.. Ha Ha

Thank you I did not know that I could not do that.  I just want to some how get him to write me.  He does not have a GF.  He is very much a loner and only a couple of friends who I know he is not writing.  He is very black and white about everything so as my husband and I have discussed, he is probably just being focused on getting through bootcamp and will not have any distractions.  My husband said he would not be surprised if he has not even opened my letters.  He called for security reasons when he first got there and the person whose desk he was sitting at allowed him to talk to me for about 10 minutes and we had a nice conversation.  I got one letter a week ago that said he had his wisdom teeth pulled, he passed a test he told me about, the division got their battle flag, and they were making their division flag and that he was excited to get it done, and that is all I have heard.  He had his guess list wrong, I have written and told him to change it, but I have no idea if he has done it or not.  I remind him every letter.  I guess all I have left to try is send the bootcamp questionare and write myself a letter with blanks for him to fill him, put a line for him to sign, and send it in a stamped self address envelope.  I dont' even know if he is doing okay and is going to graduate on the 9th or if he has to stay the 10 weeks.  I would appreciate any help I could get in getting him to fill me in on how things are going.  Thank you.  I just don't know what to think about this, we are so close and have always told each everything.

No worries!

You got ten whole minutes on a Security call? Woo-Hoo! I know it is not much since you are not getting a flood of mail...but most don't get that on a SC.

He will be able to change the guest list and put the correct names about two weeks before PIR.

If there were ANY change in his status, RTC grants them a call home.

Some just aren't great writers and then time is a factor.

I got ONE(my one and only letter sniff, sniff LOL) letter from BC near the end...and my Questionnaire back...if not for the Questionnaire...I might not have learned ANYTHING about his experience!

Hang in there and keep asking ANY question you think of...there are NO dumb ones...unless you ask me... "the price of tea in China!"

crimltn....I understand your worry but if it helps any....if he was sick or hurt you would get a phone call.  Does your SR have a gf that he is maybe writing to?  I will mention your SR to my son...I am writing him a letter now.

I agree with the idea of a red scarf

Thank you bahkmom...I have to pull crimltn's post...no last names...sorry. I do not want her SR compromised. TY on writing...I will save the post in a word doc until I hear from her.

AGREED Red Scarf

Thank you FTLW....I was a bit concerned that she put her son's name in here.  I have it and will send a message through my son.  Hopefully her son will write.

Hi, crimltn - let me share my experience.

My first son had all the calls and sent letters as expected. My second son--who (much like you I've always been close to), only sent ONE letter to me and ONE to his brother (and these were actually two halves of the same letter). Included in the letter was the one survey he returned. He never called between his "I'm ok" and his "I'm a Sailor!" calls. YES - this is different from what I both hoped and expected. However, I did learn he was on watch and he had all his wisdom teeth pulled. Also his division (picture me rolling my eyes) lost phone privileges a time or two.

I know the silence seems hard. But your son is having an amazing experience and will grow and make it just fine. Make friends with other moms from your son's division. Take comfort in the stories and updates they share. Take it all on faith. Remember, this is just the beginning of his journey. When you write, be positive and supportive! You will be SO rewarded when he graduates!

Take care, and know we're here for you. : )

WELL IT LOOKS LIKE DIV 81 IS DOING RED SCARVES WITH BLUE ANCHOR.  SO NOW WHAT COLOR DO YOU ALL WANT TO DO?  LETS MAKE A QUICK DECISION BEFORE THERE ARE NO COLORS LEFT.  UNLESS IT DOESN'T MATTER IF WE HAVE DUPLICATE COLORS.

White is a color that shows well for our SR's to find us.

Sounds good to me.
