Hello everyone, I am new to the site and so far I have found some great info. My son left for bootcamp just about 2 weeks ago. We miss him so much but he was so eager to get this going so that does make it a little easier. So we are a military family and have some friends that have said that there is such a thing as family day before PIR? My sons PIR date is Jan 5, 2018. Ive already received the paperwork for us to send back the list of guests, etc but no where on there or other sites can i find anything about a family day. If anyone has any info on that I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance!

No, there is not a "family day" before PIR. The first time you will see your new Sailor is in the Drill Hall on the day of PIR.

There is a Meet and Greet the night before PIR when you can share a fun time with other loved ones of the graduating Sailors.  Sarge's Meet and Greet is from 5 pm to 10 pm at the Lakehurst Event Center (go to http://www.mynavytaxi.com/events.html to RSVP).

Check your My Page.

The Navy does not have a Family Day the day before Graduation...the Marines do :-).

The first time you will see your new Sailor will be on Graduation day or PIR as it is also referred too.

There is something called a Meet and Greet that is for the friends and family of the graduating sailors to attend the night before PIR. It is not sponsored by the US Navy in any way. The most popular one (and possibly the only one) is the one that is hosted by Old Sarge and his wife. This is a free event (donations are welcomed). Sarge is retired Army and has been serving the military community in the Great Lakes (and more) for many years through his taxi service. He then started hosting a Meet and Greet the night before each PIR.

For more information you may go to the left side of this page and approximately in the middle you will see the heading "EVENTS", search for your Meet and Greet there. Or you may go to Sarge's MyPage on this sight or to his webpage off-site.

Here is a  link to his MyPage:
