While those of you who sew continue to sew (thank you ver much) here is our destination

Amphibous Assault ship The USS KEARSARGE.  It has been fun chatting with our chaplain, who says they have opened a new space for our Sailors and Marines to  unwind called Holy Joe's Café.  Are we ready to stock it?  Yes!

EVERYTHING in Holy Joe's Cafe is free to our guys and gals!

So, here's the request list:

Beef jerkey covered by Jack's Links

Sunflower seeds

Gum (no hard candy or chocolate)

Coffee--all sorts, both instant, packetts and brew type (I'm saying some tea, too.)

Single packet drinks

Personal hygiene products

DVDs

The crew loves any TV show. I've noticed the popular ones are: Dexter, 24, Prison Break, NCIS, True Blood, Sons of Anarchy, House, Spartacus. I obviously wouldn't expect you to get all of these, but it is at least a selection to choose from.

Board games: Storage space is slim, so bulky board games may be difficult. I know that Cranium, Catch a Phrase, and games like that are popular.

Can you add to the list--of course. (No though, on books.)

Lots of cards and handmade pictures from the kids--think SPRING AND ST. PATTY'S DAY

Pack what you can in gallon ziplock type bags so the group can help pick up their godies. And of course, the pillowcases

It's now just a stitch over 1,000 needed.  Chaplain says: 1028 total

216 female

812 male

In the meantime, keep those sewing machines tuned up and continue sewing!  '

Love ya

Carol

Michele--thanks for you offer, but we are limiting the number of people in contact with our person for this group so as not to overfill their emails or confuse who is the contact person stateside.  It is covered.

LOL! Offer? What offer? I am not talking about contacting the POC for the monthly adopted unit. I was just talking about getting the specifics for the when and where for the packing party, i.e. date and time and where.

Hopefully before the packing party, I'm assuming you will have the address before hand. I'll be happy to print out labels ahead of time, if need be to bring along to expedite on the day of the packing party. So much easier than having to hand write them. HA! I am spoiled with being able to do them online.

Just give me a call, or email me for when and where and the address we will be sending to.

So Carol is it cold enough up in IL for ya..its about 75 here....btw...how many pillowcases do we have?...
What's for dinner Carol?
dinner?  oh, was it my turn to cook for you, too?  ha ha ha.  Tonight probably just soup.  Sorry, no mushroom stuffed Italian meatloaf, or 5 spice chicken, or baked potato soup--just out of the can.  I'm by myself tonight.
INSERTING  ......LIKE.......Button for you Carol....LOL
Yippe-- a lady called due to an article I put in our local weekly paper.  Her church's mission group at church is looking for something new to do!  I went to her house today and picked up 6 yards of cute fabric.  She had me go over the whole MAS program, took notes, and is going back to her woman's circle to see what else they can do!
Go  Carol Go!!

Alright I have taken the next 3 days off in a row and will start sewing away.   Well ok not quite I work from 5 to 9:30 tomorrow morning then I am on the sewing pillowcase thing :)   and of course my son leaves Thursday :(

Wish me luck luck , I dont know how many cases you can sew in a 5 /6 hour period ???   LOL or maybe 8 hour period

Take a break every 20 minutes to stretch.  Set the kitchen timer (no joke--I do it here on N4M, too.)  We don't want you to waddle like a DUCK because you sat too long over the sewing machine!

Thought I might pop in here and introduce myself...I am the Chris half of Tammie and Chris.  We both have sailors - Tammie has a daughter in San Diego and I have a son in Corvallis.  We are the folks you contact when you are ready to do a packing party.  We have all of the paper work you need and lots of information.  We are excited to do this next step in our ongoing adventure with MAS.  In Jan 2009 we held the first ever Molly's large group packing party.  It was a surprise to us as we expected maybe 20-30 people - we were doing it statewide to promote N4M and MAS and to give our moms and dads here in Colorado and opportunity to meet and network with each other and our recruiters - we had amost 70 people show up in my home - whoohoo what an exciting time.

We currently hold our packing parties at a local recruiting office so the DEPPERs and Sea Cadets can help also.  I gotta tell you that the combination of packing up LOVE Boxes to ship AND getting to hug on future sailors...it doesn't get much better.

So ladies when you are ready to jump in and tackle the packing party extravaganza you shoot an email to us at:

maspackingparty@gmail.com

We have you covered and will get you rolling right way.

Love to all our mommas and for the sewers in the group bless you.  My sister is trying to teach me to sew, but I think she is getting a bit exasperated....I'm trying to learn too Miss Molly.

Carol, you and the rest of the sewers say a little prayer for us beginners would you?

Would that prayer start : "Eternal God, please keep us on the straight and narrow?"
