Moms,

I'm proud to announce our February Adoption of the USS Mason DDG-87. They are about half way through a nine month deployment in the Gulf/Mediterranean region.

Let's provide these sailors with a Mardi Gras celebration - color theme is purple, green and gold. I will send the beads, let's send them masks and decorations in the spirit of this party!

This crew consists of 250 men and 75 women and pillowcases are a go :)

Following is a list suggestions from our contact:

  • Letters from home first and foremost
  • Chocolate chip cookies or your favorite cookie
  • Brownies
  • DVD's
  • Any games - card, board, etc.

Anything you send will be greatly enjoyed and appreciated!!

Let's show them some Molly Mom Love!

Ship Date: February 19 - 24th

Please indicate on the box if you are including decorations so our contact can prepare the area

I will begin on some pillowcases. I will cover the females and I will do 75 males. also so count me in for 150.

I will try and get some letter written also.

Let's show them some love.

Sally

150 pillowcases is awesome - thank  you!

I am just starting on them now.  Hope to have them complete while the snow falls this week.  Nothing else better to do than my favorite thing sew, sew, sew.

It is a passion for me and helps me keep my mind off of other things.

Sally

Put me down for another 20 pillowcases
I will see about more pictures and notes from school kiddos too :)
Sheryl

I'm not good at the pillowcases, but please put me down for 2 boxes of cookies/games & etc.  I will check on Mardi Gras supplies as well.  It may be even 3 or 4 boxes I have my fellow employees helping.

Chow

I have 28 DVD movies packed and ready to go!!! Will have lots more things to send courtesy of Laura's church!!! Will send you a count when we get closer to the shipping date!

I'm in - I will head to Dollar Tree this week as they had quite the selection of Mardi Gras stuff when I was there the other day.  Ironically I just picked up a stock pile of DVDs at Wal-mart for $3 a piece so I will set them aside for these guys.  Count me in for some homemade cookies too!  This is what I made for Valentine's Day for my own sailor and his buddies, so I will find something Mardi Gras-ish and work on those as the date gets closer! :-)

Your cookies are spectacular - here's an idea for Mardi Gras theme

Thanks Lynda - I'm going to dig thru my cutters and see what I have and go from there!  (can never have enough cookie cutters - heehee).

Those cookies are beautiful!!!  I bet the sailors loved receiving them - I know I surely would!  :)

I just got done with them yesterday, so they will get mailed out on Monday!  I know my son is super excited.  He gave me a list of his friends, so I know he will at least let me know what they thought! :-)

Just thought I would share so we all know who we are adopting - this is the USS Mason's Facebook page:
