ummm, i wonder what its like to drive there from atlanta, anyone done that?
The form letter is WRONG. PIR is Wednesday, 21 November. See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/upcoming_grads.asp. Join the group, PIR 11/21/2012 TG 02 – 11 Divisions (009-018 & 902) (clickable link), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. Know that Divisions 009 and 010 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. There will be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.
Since he is staying in GL, he will have Liberty on Wednesday after he checks in at the TSC, which takes about 3-5 hours until Liberty expires that night at 10, but you must drop him off about 30 minutes before to give him time to get to his barracks. Then he will have daytime Liberty (pick up 6:30 or 7 am and drop off 9:30 pm or so) each day of the 4 day weekend, or at least they have in the past. You can check on the Training Support Center (TSC) Great Lakes Facebook Page (clickable link) to see if anything has been posted about it yet.
You are very welcome. Yes, when you trust in God, things work out.
Note the comment above. PIR Thanksgiving week is Wednesday, 21 November.
My grandson is also on Ship 12 Div 009. He is an E2 SR (S-PACT). We will be driving from north of Nashille and it will take at least 8 hr., unless of course we hit traffic in Chicago or the usual road construction - so you would probably have at least a 12 hr. drive from Atlanta. As of now my SR will be staying in GL after PIR (Nov. 21st) so hopefully we will get to spend Thanksgiving and a few days of liberty there with him. My SR's name is Matt. Maybe they know each other. Can't wait to get a real letter or phone call.
By the way, lemonelephant, you're awesome!
Thanks for that compliment.
You may also want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. There will be good information for you in those groups to compliment the information within the groups you have already joined.
