Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Jewel - thanks for commenting about extra tickets at PIR; yes we had heard that but I wasn't exactly sure how it worked.......so we don't have to do anything beforehand - just show up and the 5th person will wait in a room until they let them in once they know there are extra seats? Lori

Very thoughtful of to help your daughters husband; glad you are writing her - lots of time at night to think at BC without T.V.s etc.; I hope one of the outcomes of BC is that your relationship improves.

Oh, I think it already has, now that she has something of her own with the Navy. A lot of time, our children get out in the world, see what situations others face, and realize their families aren't so bad after all. A lot of that has to do with maturing (on everyone's part). A lot of friction has to do with the younger generation pushing to make their own place. I just pray for strength and patience and leave it up to God to know better that me what is best. I still cry when I go on facebook and watch the video of her husband ceremoniously cutting her 26 year old hair.
However, enough of that. This is supposed to be the funny discussion. If you go to militarytimes.com/blogs/broadsides you go to the page for Broadsides, a very funny comic that has been appearing in Navy Times for decades. The comics are easily printed off and sent to BC. -

Awwwww, good for you Jewel - you have a wonderful attitude. Yes, you captured it very well. I've had my own share of bumps in the road with my children. Growing pains that heal. Thanks for the comic link! I'll take a look.

The comic Ballard Street is great. His dogs are wonderful. comics.com has a lot of comics that I can usually print off. I usually keep several favorites in my purse for down times. Sometimes you can screen catch pictures of goofy animals. Or just google whatever your loved one is interested in with the word photo or picture. Like funny purple monsters, picture. You could ask him to suggest goofy or odd things to look up and send him the result. Strange searches can have comical results.

Now, when its hard times 12, that's when your brains start oozing through your ears. Five is only bleeding from the eyeballs. LOL
I figure, when they are too tired to complain, that's when it is getting excessive.
All our SR do sound like they scored very high verbally; I like this colorful language. -

My son put 2 stamps on his very tiny letter. I told him you only need one. He is also new to using regular mail. He always had trouble figuring out where to write the address and put the stamp ect. At least he will learn that at boot camp. Oh, and he has lived on his own for five years, still trying to figure it out!
