I thought that this would be fun to see what our SRs say in either a letter or a phone call to us.

My son wrote:

Mom, the caviar here is bland and my gold toilet is a little cold but I think I will manage.

I laughed so hard!

So feel free to put down the things that made you smile, laugh or cry from your SR.

Have a great day!

My sr calls his writting paper 'FANCY PAPER"

In a letter I just got today, "I'm finally healthy, and starting to get more physically fit. Showering still sucks. Today was the best I got to take a 45 min shower, compared to a 5 min one."

I like the "finally healthy" part that kid was lucky if he had 8% body fat going into boot!! He has always been concerned with his physique...I think I am going to have a boy with a big head on his shoulders if he gets anymore buff!  LOL

Ok, while I don't have too much 'funny' to report I did thoroughly appreciate the last sentence in his letter to his sister: "Listen  your parents 'now', means way more 'later' than you may think, trust me." Hmmmmm

funny how that statement hold water now!

It wouldn't work with my daughter. She barely listens to me when I am in the same room. LOL!

Bearsmom, I was just amazed that this son of mine who has 'not' listened to anything we've said over the last year, would give out that kind of advice to his 15 year old sister.  AND she is the one that listens, well listens as much as any 15 year old does.  Lol

When I sent my SR one of the questionaires it said "the first night I got to bed at 4:45 am.  I was allowed to sleep for 15 minutes!!!  Sleep is over rated.

From the kid who could go to bed at 9pm and sleep till 1 pm the next afternoon!!!

HAHHA NO KIDDING .... My son wrote  ' I LOVE SLEEP" I MISS SLEEP

Okay, so I put together a questionaire for my son. It is really crass in vocabulary but I figure he would get a kick out of it. I mail it out tomorrow. :) YES!!!

Anyway. A letter came for me on Saturday, he said in his letter:

I passed the athletic test, the academic test, the personal inspection and ther weapons inspection. I'm BEASTING this place, MOM!! I can't wait for yo to see me at graduation! I'll send you a letter telling you where I will be when marching. I love you, Mom!!

I get more I love yous since he is in BC than when he was with me. :) I'm glad that he is being more animal like in his BC, I guess. LOL!!

Just thought I would share.

Bearsmom, glad to hear he is 'beasting' BC. That's the best!  My son definitely has shared more I love you's and he has written some remorseful, apologetic words, about his behavior before leaving.  I think he's having some "come to Jesus"  reflections.  As much as I love my fella, he really was a jerk before he left.

i haven't heard the I love yous but I hear a lot of i really miss you...so I flip that over to love in my mind!

Jackie, I agree. We know our kids.  I'm sure the "I really miss you" means as much as the I love you's.  If I were you I would cherish the "I really miss you."  I hope this comes off as sincere and understanding. That is definitely how it is intended.
