For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Help re: Medical DX
Hello:
My son was sent to Ship 5 yesterday. He was 9 days from PIR. I am so confused and heartbroken. Apparently he has passed everything including his final PFA. After his PFA his back was hurting. They are now telling him that he has to have back surgery and can re-enlist in 1 yr. I do not understand at all. Can he ask for a 2nd opinion while he is in Ship 5? How often are diagnosis wrong? It just makes no sense that he can go almost a full 7 weeks doing all the physical stuff he is required to do and then they say he needs surgery. Please someone help. I posted yesterday on the Ship 5 FB group and no one has replied. I feel so lost and sad for him.

Hello 8senough. I do not know if anyone has responded to you yet. Unfortunately, I haven't been around long enough to help much. I have learned to try and give them a little time. It is upsetting when they are told they are being seperated for any reason. Have patience. (I know it is hard for us so far away) He will call again. Hold on the the fact that he can re-enlist. That is hope. Just keep being supportive and understanding. And I have read to have your SR sign something (I think it was on this page) so they can talk to you about it. Just hang in there.

He can request a second opinion and appeal the decision to be separated, but if he is in ongoing pain, then the chances that he will get a different result are low, although possible. Yes, it is possible that he has had a problem all along, but it has finally gotten to the point that it is causing pain. Recruits have been separated in the last week before PIR due to issues that have come up.
