I know we are all overjoyed about our sailors coming home after PIR so let's get all of our questions answered here.

Ma'am,

Recruits graduating Dec. 17 & 22 will be granted leave and will be able to travel home.  Those graduating Dec. 17 will have their leave expire on Dec. 28.  Recruits graduating Dec. 22 will be granted leave that will expire Jan. 2.  Recruits are responsible for paying their own way from RTC to their home and then pay for their way from home to their next command for A School.  Once they are at their next command, they may request to be reimbursed for part of the travel costs.

Respectfully,

Recruit Training command

Traveling home the Sailors will be required to wear their uniforms because they have not phased in at A School.  A letter will be given letting them know what is allowed and not allowed while on Leave.  They cannot drive a car or consume alcoholic beverages while on Leave.

Our Sailors will not be allowed to bring their cars to A School.

This is a work in progress and I will try to answer questions as they become available to me.

Have a good day.  Kathy

Thank you Anti M, because PAO wasn't even sure about the uniform policy yet.

I am actually glad to hear that they will fly in uniform. I will be so proud to sit next to my new sailor. :)

There's automatic music? Huh. I don't have my volume on unless I specifically want to hear something. Never knew that there was music on this page. Learn something new EVERY day!
Not the discussion pages, the group page. The player comes on automatically rather than having to be started. I have my volume low, but the player drags down the page load, even with a fast connection. Music is great, but it is a courtesy to allow it as a choice. Just an opinion, of course.
I love the music. There is music on a lot of the pages on here, and if I don't want to listen, I just turn off the volume on my computer. Just a thought.

Betsy
I confess, I am the "phase out" person. I know just enough to be dangerous. lol. I will not name names but I will ask her to make the music a choice to turn on. I would love to have you part of our group all the time. Thank you so much for coming through with answers to our many questions. Have a nice quiet day. Hugs. K
Are you sure that they will come straight home after PIR? My son's PIR is on 12/22/10. I called my son's recruiter and he was not sure due to the holidays if he comes straight home or goes to A school first then home.
If their A school is in Great Lakes, they might go across the street and check in first. No one seems to know just yet.
According to the Navy Public Affairs Office, they can check out after PIR. If you aren't sure if that is firm, I would then wait to see what you hear from your son.

My son's recruiter actually had given me the wrong address for my son, so I'm not sure if they are that well informed.

My son to is graduating the 22nd and he informed me he can leave right after graduation but will not be able to leave the State till after 5:00 pm, not sure as to why. He has to report back to A school on the 3rd but check in by the 2nd.
donnag if your son is graduating Dec 22 here is the link to your PIR group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir12222010
Thanks KLM -----My daughter will be home for her Christmas birthday.
I called R's recruiter today to ask about him working at the office over break and he confirmed what I just read on here posted by somebody else; the RAP program is only for sailors after A-School. He said R could volunteer down there for a couple hours everyday and he would fill out the paperwork, but that he probably will not be credited the days back.
The other thing I read was not to let your sailor come home over the break because they will use up their time and then you will not see them after A-school. They said it would be a LONG time before they accrue the days again to be able to take a leave. I am so disappointed. I really wanted him to come home over the holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
